People who use their e-brake in an automatic, on a flat surface, while in park.

^^so you prefer lazy people? Always engaging your emergency brake (AKA parking brake) takes the strain of static forces off of your transmission.

Saw a jackass the other day with an Audi C6 A6, badged as an RS6. Visually the car was stock, with no actual modifications to make it look like an RS6. It sported 3 RS6 badges, as well as a V8T badge.

1) the C6 RS6 came with a V10 TT (and S6 a N/A V10)
2) the C6 RS6 was never sold stateside

Most surfaces aren't perfectly flat. I doubt most people park, then briefly observe the surroundings to determine if it's perfectly flat. All garages have a built in slant for drainage but I bet most automatic drivers don't put the brake on there...

Though, when you put it in park you are loading up pressure on the parking paul (sp?).
Then you apply the parking brake. Are you not then just locking down the pressure?

I doubt many apply the parking brake and then put it in park.

And, an auto trans takes how much torque regularly... but can't handle the amount of torque generated by the weight of a vehicle on an incline when in park?

It's an auto. e-brake not needed for parking. Though possibly insurance in SanFran or the like. Though at that point you should have your wheels turned up against the curb.

if I don't feel the slope, I don't apply p-brake on an auto. Unless damaged, the parking pawl is by design more than capable of holding the vehicle stationary.

I find myself parking my trucks in neutral a lot, but such is the life of a manual VB and floor shifter.

I had a set of 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 wheels+tires I just sold 2 days ago to another 240 guy. The rears had 275/40's mounted on them.

1st call (last weekend), he asks me if they're still available then says he won't be able to get them for another 3-4 weeks because something came up that day. I'm thinking "then why the hell are you calling now?" but told him I couldn't hold it for him.

A few days ago he texts me and says he's ready to buy. I tell him OK, send him more detailed pics, and we arrange it. He can't do the weekend because he may be out of town. I reluctantly ask the wife to take care of it; I set the wheels outside so all she has to do is receive $ and go back inside (lol she tells me she had 2 pistols chambered).

Beforehand, he asks where he can go to get the wheels put on, so I'm thinking this mofo wants to do it in my driveway with my floor jacks with only my wife and kids at home.. hell no. I tell him he can take it to the Autozone or local deserted shopping center parking lot for DIY or my go-to tire shop for service.

I tell him he'll need aftermarket lug nuts, and he's asking where he can get some. So I hold his damn hand through it, and realize I'm dealing with a complete noob... great.

He's all "How much for just the rims? I might buy some new tires.." and I assure him the fronts are very good (like 7/32"!) and tell him the tire shop usually has some used ones for the rears (2/32"). I also tell him the tires are already factored into my non-negotiable price.. (WTF are you going to do, unmount the tires and return them to me?)

He pays and leaves with the wheels and texts me a picture saying the rears are rubbing. This fool thinks I'm pulling him a fast one because I didn't tell him fuckin' 275/40/18s can't be mounted to a 240sx without modification... He's asking all sorts of questions about what he can do, who can do it, etc. I had to tell him about "fender rolling" and that it's just a necessary part of the game.

Last few texts word-for-word, after having given fender-rolling info:
him: You should have told me that I had to do some stuff for the rear tires to fit with no rub. What else can I do to fix it?
me: Sorry about that. I guess I was assuming you'd know a 275/40/18 wouldn't go without some work. No way any 18x9.5 wheels will fit under stock 240 fenders.
There's no other option other than fender rolling. 9.5" width is going to hit the shock absorber if you make it clear the stock fenders.
him. Ima take it to the shop in the am to see if they can fix it

It wasn't just the complaining that bothered me. What the hell happened to not being available over the weekend but suddenly taking the car to the shop Saturday morning? He would have been in much better hands had I been home to sell the wheels. Second of all, all this crap haggling the firm price, unmounting tires and shit, then turning around talking about taking the thing to a shop for fender work and 4 brand new tires...

People who park absurd distances from the curb when parallel parking. Not only is a foot of your car sticking out into the travel lane, but if I'm trying to park in a somewhat tight space, it's that much harder to get in properly when the car in front is a foot and a half off the curb.

^^that is a bit ridiculous

^That's actually a fine-able offense, too bad it's not actually enforced much though.

it was enforced on my wife, and she was upset that I told her she deserved it.

her current car tilts the passenger side mirror and she's actually decent at parallel parking now)

that's a relief. unless you're driving a behemoth I don't understand what's so difficult about it (given enough practice)

I parallel park every time I go downtown, if there's a spot available. Way more convenient (and depending on time of day) possibly cheaper than a parking deck.

And while I doubt most people share this fear, parking decks make me super paranoid of door dings

I have access to 3 decks that the public is not allowed in... So that's where I park But I parallel park next to work every day.

Considering my building and most others on my block have nothing but street parking, you'd think people would be better at it. If I can parallel park a crown Vic properly there's no excuse for your Subaru to be that far off.
