Don't be so sure. They had already finished most of the filming.

i'm sure it'll be several weeks before we know what kind of creative direction they'll take for the 7th and 8th installments. Universal will push on, the F&F franchise is a billion dollar cash cow.

I actually don't think it would be in bad taste to have O'Connor die in the movie. It would be almost more of an insult to have him completely removed from the movie.

It deserves to be his final farewell, and the franchise fans would appreciate it.

They have at least half of it filmed so there is plenty of footage to work with and to formulate the story appropriately.

according to my facebook wall, a bunch of people are really beat up about PW's death and claiming it's the saddest thing ever!

I really don't understand it

it would have been sad had they run over my mother, or crashed into a crowded cafe, or exploded their car near a group of kids walking down the sidewalk. this, however, isn't all that sad. just a couple of adrenaline junkie rich dudes, breaking the law and acting like fuckfaces, and ultimately got Darwin'd

I really don't know. The next film's big bad is Jason Statham but he wasn't introduced with enough menace to be the one to take out the film's main star. So i really don't know how they'll write him out.

^Yea, was having a conversation with a friend about this. We are thinking, if they got hospital bed footage of Paul Walker, then they can go the soap opera route and have him in a coma for 3 or so movies, then write in him dying when that gets stale!

"City streets"? You're trying to make it sound like this was a highly populated and busy area. It's not. Industrial park on the outskirts of town =/ city streets.

Yeah b/c most sparsely populated areas just outside of town are defacto limited to 45. Not like he was going 100 on the FDR in NYC or 100 down the PCH or 405. I'm not saying it wasn't irresponsible, just arguing against statements that were made to put them in a worse light.

I agree that it sucks for him and his family that this happened (as well as the passenger), but plenty of good people die every day that no one could give a shit about. If your a fan of his work, I can see this being disappointing, but the amount of outcry that has gone out for this guy boggles my mind

I agree, for the most point. Not saying I haven't sped and made poor decisions in my life, but when I had, if something tragic had happened, I guarantee a much greater majority of people who had never met me in real life would call out my actions that led up to the incident rather than all the other things I have done in my life.

I guess I just don't get it- I'm curious how many people knew about his "charitable contributions" and how nice a guy he was before he died, or if they just knew him as the gimp QB from Varsity Blues, and the bad boy cop from FnF.

And not saying the dude doesn't deserve some sympathy- I am not making light of what happened. But I don't understand the level some people are taking it to.

it happens when any celebrity dies. it might be a little more because people are finding out that he was actually a nice charitable dude, unlike a lot of celebrities.

Well it would appear that, unlike most celebrites, that he wasn't a douchenozzle.

Also most people that die every day don't contribute that much to charitable foundations. (or found their own)

HE was the passenger. Aside from the huge amount of hue and cry over his death, it seems like many people don't even know that he wasn't the one driving, or at least don't know who the driver was even if they know PW was the passenger.

Uhh....wat?

In the 15 seconds he was on screen he killed one of Dom's crew and then phoned Dom to tell him he was coming for him. I don't know how you'd get more menacing than that in the time allowed. It would TOTALLY be in character if he killed another one of the crew.

Not really. He killed a fan favorite in Han, sure. But it would be a pretty big stretch to have a just introduced antagonist kill off the main star early in the story. Especially when he says he's coming after Toretto at the end and not O'Conner.

The only way you pull that off is by beginning the movie with O'Conner's funeral letting the audience interpret just how far Statham's character was willing to go. Perhaps using the already filmed scenes as interjecting flashbacks during the present day story in order to keep Walker in the film while allowing the story to move on without him.

That's not a terrible idea. If they let that happen they better finish the movie with Dom killing him.

that is such a cop out... how many people are in the position to do such a thing? There are plenty of people who charitable things with their time and efforts, but even if they did that every day for the rest of their life, they couldn't do what one check from a rich actor/actress could do. Doesn't mean their efforts are any less worth noting. Not saying PW wasn't a good guy, but the view that the other people dying in the world didn't do as much- well, what would you have them do?

It's not a cop out, its stating that he was a good person, someone that had a large impact on possibly millions of people, that will sorely be missed.

There were some others roles I can definitely recall, but that's all I mainly knew him as. I also watched Joy Ride a bazillion times when it came on TV.

But that's precisely why it's sad. He was a comically bad actor who somehow kept getting roles and trying his adorable damnedest. And his movies were bad--seeing him in trailers always made me wanna laugh--but I never really felt let down when I watched them.

It was all just kinda funny and delightful, and now it's over.

No more Paul Walker.

None of that really explains why you don't think he came off as menacing enough to kill O'Conner. He killed one member of Toretto's crew, it's not any stretch at all to think that he could go after all the members before trying to kill Toretto himself. Or even let him live after killing all his friends and family. We really don't know anything about him, his motivation, or what he wants to accomplish. I'm just saying that starting things off by killing a member of his crew certainly qualifies as menacing in my book.

Also, I'm not sure why you think O'Conner has to die in the beginning of FF7. From what I read they actually had quite a bit of the movie already finished with several important scenes still yet to be filmed. Maybe that translates to his death needing to be 10 minutes into the movie, or maybe they have enough to stretch it out to an hour or more, which would be a decent way to end the 2nd act/give more motivation for the 3rd.

For me personally, as a huge fan of the series, I don't want to sit through all of FF7 waiting for the inevitable to come. And furthermore, watching the movie and nitpicking at scenes where they've edited around Paul's absence where stand-ins have been used as a replacement.

As a fan I want them to keep Brian alive as long as possible. Use all the stuff that's been shot and then kill him off. A lot of people are gonna go see this movie as a last chance to see Paul Walker on the big screen.

So i just now learned through a yahoo article that Walker, 40, was dating a 23 year old and they had been dating for 7 years meaning that at age 33 he was dating a 16 year old( ). Whats crazier is that this chick is only 8 years older than his daughter.
