It may have trailed off significantly in recent years but that looks like the typical Friday night line from back in the day. It was always out the door.

No plans on going for a send-off though, not a fan of large crowds and I suspect everyone has the one last time idea.

Tried to go there for dinner with my family last night at 6, but the line was out the door and halfway down the parking lot. Every spot was taken and parking was a nightmare. Thankfully this thread had prepared me to expect a line, but I ended up not waiting.

I am going to try one last time today at 2:45 (hopefully between the lunch and dinner rushes).

I never saw the appeal of this joint. I mean it was ok, but nothing I'd miss. I suspect most people are up in arms over the nostalgia rather than the quality of the food.

It's not a 5 star restaurant, but it's a damn good burger joint.

I like being able to put whatever toppings I want and however much I want on my burger. The bread is good, and my wife loves their ice cream. The also have the best onion rings (they are giant and the batter is flaky and crunchy). The atmosphere is also very appealing, nice and relaxed.

I have also been going there since I moved to Raleigh in high school. It was a hangout and destination lunch place then, and my wife/neighbors/family enjoy going there now.

Seems to be what's going on.

Went there a couple months ago and the burger was le suck. Like way worse than 5 Guys, which isn't even *that incredible* to begin with. Vat of cheese was aite though.

would love to buy one of their posters of veggies that have been hanging on their walls for as long as I can remember. my house could really go for a big poster of either lettuce or sliced tomatoes.

One and only visit was in December. Food was cheap and was pretty good. It was the dirty and run down inside and outside of the building, esp downstairs, that surprised me. Esp when I had heard such good things about the place.

So i suppose instead of renovating they just decided to close. With the square footage of the space or even splitting it into two different venues/businesses, I am surprised that they didn't hold onto the property to rent out...

mmmmm, it was delicious. Line of about 30 at 2:30, but there was no one in line when I left at 3:30 (in case anyone is planning a quick entry/exit).

I brought back a dozen cookies for the office too, they were gone within 15 minutes.
