Show me the studies that supports institutionalized racism is alive and real? There is no question that it is alive and well in the hearts and minds of still too many people, but you can't show me a study that actually establishes that the plight of black folk on the whole is attributed to racism in 2014 (or even 1990 or 2000) for that matter.

Let's talk about the pay gap with women and women in STEM as well. It's a shame that liberals are well intentioned but can't figure out how to use statistics to actually make a believable case rather than to try and scare people into action with twisted numbers and tortured logic.

Look up these things:
Disparity in sentencing
Disparity in arrests
Disparity in detainment
Disparity in discipline procedures in school
Disparity in acquiring loans
Disparity in receiving interviews
Disparity in real estate transactions
Disparity in getting jobs
Disparity in getting promotions
Disparity in legal protections
Considering these things were far worse a few decades ago, and whAt the cumulative effect might be.
Lookup the Hawthorne Effect and consider how this relates to the stereotype threat.

You're ignorant if you believe that we shouldn't be working to actively correct the double standards that black folks in particular have to work against to be successful. There are clear metrics that speak to this. The only wrong answer is believing that society has no specific burden in this battle for equality.

Ha it's not really white guilt. These principles protect white people too (and you'll need them in coming decades-- especially if you don't embrace them now).

Even if there were no races in humanity, people would find a way to oppress a class of people. Look at South Korea, North Koreans who defect are treated very poorly. Women in many 3rd world countries have crap for rights. Pre civil rights era, it was a big deal whether a new Supreme Court judge was from the north or the south, there used to be signs saying "Irish need not apply" for jobs, hanging outside businesses in the US in the early part of te Last century. It's not an issue of race inherently, it's an issue of class and humanity. It's just racism is one of the big things holding our society back at the moment. The founding fathers wrote the constituion to protect the minority from the mob mentality of the majority, this hasn't always been a racial concept.
