Power out near the walmart at Hwy 24 and 70 and in various areas around West Carteret High. Our power has flickered but still on.

Power went out for awhile but its back now...Think the eye has officially hit. It's not as windy as it was 30 min ago, not even close...

I was on the beach snapchatting and got ran off by the Indian Beach Po Po.

Needless to say...30 min ago it was impressive.

Nothing in Topsail. We had a deck chair blow across the deck and our neighbors lost a couple of shingles.

Apparently the highest recorded gust was 101 mph, from a buoy. Makes me suspicious that this storm was a Category 2 at landfall, giving that it needs to have 95 mph sustained winds to be classified as such. Or does that wind classification come from readings at higher altitudes?

Power is still out here in the Harkers Island area

Lots of pine trees snapped off in our neighbor's yard

Power went out for about an hour at AB/Indian Beach...there was some damage at Atlantic to houses as in siding and shingles getting ripped off.

Got lucky that this storm was a VERY fast moving one and got in and out quickly.

Worries me that people will think ALL Cat 2s are like that one though.

The resort i was staying at in Atlantic Beach never lost power, however they did lose a good amount of shingles. The worst damage I saw there was at the Channel Marker restaurant. The dock and walkway over the water was destroyed.

^^what should worry you is how much some news outlets like to sensationalize every single tropical system, regardless of strength. That sort of thing has a numbing effect on people and then when a truly dangerous storm hits they're not prepared. Arthur was a weak category 2, and only held it's cat 2 status for a few hours. And hit at low tide. Hopefully (most) people are smart enough to realize what that means
