I had some time to mess around with this today out of curiosity. Basically, when I load the photo it is white/gold. However, if I place the monitor in front of a window and then look at the reflection in the window, I see a dark blue/black dress in the reflection, and then when I look back at the monitor it appears to have changed to a blue/black dress.

I repeated the process at different time intervals to rule out any internets magic, and then I had my friend come look at the dress after it had changed from white to blue, and he said that to him it was still white.

Crazy, this "piece of shit annoying facebook trend" is actually a pretty good lesson in color perception.
