Nah that's just ESPN creating a story to fill air time. There's absolutely nothing of any substance in that article, but you can bet your sweet ass 30 people will be on ESPN today to talk about it. LeBron might maybe listen if someone were to call. More at 11.

I think this is LeBron trying to push Cleveland into making a trade, even though literally the only asset they have is the nets pick, which they have no desire to trade away since James is gonna peace out after this year.

I think 2-3 more rings would be more likely without LeBron. In order to afford him they'd have to get rid of two starters and the rest of their rotation would be guys on minimum salaries for the most part. Not to mention he is a TERRIBLE fit for their offense and would be a worse defender than the guys he'd be replacing.2/1/2018 2:26:56 PM |

^^I follow teams, not players, so ya'll will be the ones butthurt that your favorite player will be a confirmed ring chaser on a team you hate.
But like I said, it's a lot more probable Lebron just wants some attention because the Cavs aren't very good this season, or he's trying to sabotage the Ws locker room by messing with people's heads.
Either way, I'm entertained

^^ the attention they're getting is mostly negative. "Don't count the Cavs out b/c of Lebron" is the prevailing story, as it should be, as opposed to "Cleveland is the biggest team standing in the way for Golden State." Boston and Houston are semi-legitimate threats to the Ws, no question though.

^^^ Livingston and Klay, but likely more.
While it’s such a silly scenario to even begin with, I think it’s important to remember who is pursuing who. This time isn’t the same as the pursuit of Durant. The rumor is coming from Lebron, and not the Ws courting him. The funny thing is that Joe Lacob would actually meet with him and try to do it, even if 90% of Warriors fans are pissed. The man is a genius, so if it were to ever happen, it would be 100% him.

If he's a genius, he wouldn't do it. LeBron just doesn't fit with the Warriors offense, they'd be replacing a sharpshooter with a guy whose 3 point shooting is good biggest weakness.
And they'd have to give up more than Livingston and Thompson. Throw in Igoudala as well. 2/2/2018 7:30:28 AM |

UJustWait84 All American 25821 Posts user info edit post |
^^ the trade could also involve Draymond instead of Klay (another horrible idea) or pay cuts. It's not a serious scenario to begin with, so I'm not even going to bother with the potential "chemistry" stuff you keep trying to argue about. But the bottom line is that if Lacob wanted the trade to take place, he would make it work if he was convinced it would make the Ws better and win more championships. He wants to be like the Lakers or the Celtics and have an enduring dynasty, and despite making deeply unpopular moves with the fanbase over the last few years, he kinda knows what he's doing...
^ he's certainly a genius compared to you, considering you can barely read sometimes. He's made moves to turn what was once a 30 year perennial NBA bottom feeder into a potential dynasty in a 5-7 year span. 2/2/2018 1:27:24 PM |
justinh524 Sprots Talk Mod 27843 Posts user info edit post |
You don't make a dynasty by trading multiple integral parts of the best team in basketball for a guy on the backside of his career who doesn't mesh with offensive philosophy of your team and has become a sub-par defender as he's gotten older (seriously, LeBron is very much a part of the reason why Cleveland is a shit defensive team). 2/2/2018 1:49:18 PM |
UJustWait84 All American 25821 Posts user info edit post |
I'm certainly no LeBron lover, but he's having an MVP calibre season, and IF there was a way for the trade to 'work', Lacob would do it, because having 3 top 5 players on the same team is better than just 2 top 5 players. I'm just stating my opinion (about a fantasyland imaginary scenario that will never happen in the first place), based on the type of person Lacob is. Again, this IS NOT the Warriors chasing after Lebron like they did with KD. 2/2/2018 2:08:40 PM |

Curry was already on the team when he bought it. the best thing he’s done is hire Bob Myers, who calls the shots when it comes to players. you’re giving the owner all of the credit that Bob Myers/Jerry West etc. deserve

I’m not giving him ALL the credit, but he is part owner, and Myers, Kerr, etc work for HIM, not the other way around. Not when one doesn't fit into the system that makes the team so damn good. GS went so hard after Durant because he fits exactly what they want to do, namely shoot a bunch of 3's and play great defense.

That "system" will need to be upgraded at some point or another if Lacob wants the Warriors to become the next Lakers or Celtics or Spurs in terms of consistency and hardware. HINT: read the fucking article I posted. You're the one claiming Lebron is on the downswing, despite the fact that he's having one of his best seasons of his 14 year career at age 33. The trade isn't going to happen for countless common-sense reasons, but to say Lebron couldn't find a way to play on the same team as two other HOF players is ridiculous.
Just for fun, let's say the trade actually happened and it was the Warriors with KD, LBJ, Curry and Draymond (hey, we're just pretending, right?), plus whoever else for the 2019 season, excluding Klay, Iggy, Livingston, and some other bench players they'd dump. Which team is going to stop them from winning the title? You think the Warriors are suddenly going to be horrible and way worse off then they are now? GTFOH man. Lebron would be on the best team he's ever played on (aside from Olympic teams) and it's not even close. The Cavs aren't bad this year because of Lebron. They're not 'great' because Lebron doesn't have Kyrie anymore (you know, the dude who made the winning shot the last time the Cavs won a title; the dude everyone said was 'crazy' for not wanting to play with Lebron) and his current supporting cast is much worse than previous years. Isaiah Thomas was not the answer. An old D Wade was not the answer. Rose was not the answer. None of it is working very well. Isn't the biggest excuse Lebron apologists use for his 3-5 Finals record that he's always had to do it by himself? NOTE: I'm not the one who makes that argument.
When I say that IF the trade were to happen, it would be because of Lacob, I mean it very literally. As in, he would risk outraging the fanbase, screwing with existing winning chemistry that's worked over the last 1.5 seasons (this Ws team is pretty different than the one that won in 2015), and it would likely ignore advice from Bob Meyers and the entire coaching staff. But you know what? It's his fucking team and he can do whatever he wants. People were outraged about the Monta Ellis trade. People were outraged when Mark Jackson got canned. They're pissed he moved the team from Oracle to SF, where ticket prices are going to skyrocket even more. He doesn't fucking care.
For the last time: this deal isn't going to happen. If it did, it would because of Lacob though.

This is not one of his best seasons. In fact, it's easily his worst defensively. He's a major part of why the Cavs have been atrocious on that end of the floor. He just doesn't give a shit any more. Watch him play defense and see how many times he leaves his man wide open because he doesn't feel like fighting through a screen or is just watching the ball while his man leaks out for a wide open corner 3. His lack of defensive effort is ridiculous, he has turned into one of the worst defenders in the entire NBA.2/7/2018 7:50:24 AM |

Good for Wade, going back to Miami to finish out the season and retire.

Cavs dumping IT and Crowder will help the morale of the team, as will respecting Wade's wishes to get traded and giving him back to Miami for a 2nd round pick.

I don't think this roster is going to sniff winning the East. I do think the Cavs are much better suited for the post-Lebron era (i.e. next year) with a guy like Hood who had been wildly inconsistent in the NBA but still has a chance to develop into a very good starter. And they got rid of all of GM LeBron's garbage old men.
Still need to hire a real coach, though.
Just saw where they currently have $138 million in salary for next year (without LeBron and Hood, who will be a RFA). Resigning LeBron would mean their luxury tax bill would be over $100 million. No damn way in hell that Gilbert is gonna pay that. ] 2/8/2018 2:57:59 PM |
