Apple avoids RTP because IBM is expanding here. The deal with Red Hat is still pending and NC Chamber of Commerce may need a whole year to absorb it. After all, this is the biggest acquisition in IBM history and the 3rd in US IT history. This will forever change the cloud business worldwide. If Jim Whitehurst becomes the next CEO of IBM, it's possible for them to move the HQ down here from New York.

Honeywell already announced to move the HQ down to Charlotte. So we probably have nothing to regret.

Well, Cook learnt at IBM for a decade before he joined Apple.

Considering chipmakers like AMD and Qualcomm all have branches in Austin, getting close to them is a good choice. And Cook doesn't like HB2 for sure.
