That last play wasn't shitty that was the backup RT being just not good enough.
In fact the first play took a pretty great DB play to stop it 10/27/2018 10:47:42 PM |

team showed up like they hadnt scouted any of the players syracuse has or the scheme they run on defense then didnt adjust until they were already down 17 points, and played like it was still a one score game
what a shock that they never actually caught up 10/27/2018 10:51:18 PM |

I think there cancelling of the WVU game and catching BC without their starting RB def put us in a false top 25 ranking. We're just a medicore team....as always

Finley just isnt a guy who gets it at the margins. There are QBs who get better when stuff breaks down (Delhomme was one, pretty bad QB normally but was HOF at 2 minute drills) and then there are guys who cant play when they dont have a script and he's one who really suffers in that respect 10/27/2018 10:57:32 PM |

Well just like last year Syracuse recognizes we don't have a nickel and torches. Being town one of our only 2 good cb's doesn't help. A couple years of missing on recruits there hurts.
Good news is that game was supposed to be a toss up, we should be favored in every remaining game, and, since we probably wouldn't have made NY6, not a ton of difference bw 11-1 and 9-3 as far as bowls go 10/27/2018 10:58:23 PM |

yeah its mostly on the coaching staff and the assistant who thought stephen griffin was good, but the thing about great qb's is sometimes they can pull a game out of their ass that you dont deserve to win. i cant think of a single one finley has, though10/27/2018 11:00:15 PM |

Yes let's watch Finley throw for 470 yds then roast him bc he isn't Rivers or Wilson that sounds fun. 10/27/2018 11:02:21 PM |

Finley did fine. Missing our only good RB, having a non-existent OL and a secondary that couldn't cover a pancake with syrup were our two major problems. Oh, and horseshit discipline. 90 yards of penalties, and we could've had a shot to win if we hadn't gotten that last (FIFTH) fucking PI call. 10/27/2018 11:05:21 PM |

im just saying that he's pretty much the definition of the year 2005-2015 2nd round qb, the guy you saw a lot of in college and knew was good but also knew just wasnt good enough to go in the first

Gallapsy isn't bad he just isn't explosive, he'll grind those 3-5 yard runs but won't give you more, plus he's been banged up too and got popped a couple more today.
And the main o line issue was RT almost all the heavy pressure came that way. Need Witt healthy quick
^do you ever feel like you're talking just to hear yourself talk? Every Finley hater on this board loves saying Finley won't be an NFL superstar while nobody argues with them

All I'm saying is that we have the worst defensive backs coach in the country. Seriously, the "run, turn, disrupt" drill should be all DBs do all practice, it's their one fucking job, and ours are all terrible. 10/27/2018 11:10:52 PM |

love how these guys want to intentionally give them a 2-score lead! with 2 minutes left, instead of potentially holding them to a FG that would have meant a 1 possession game. Truly our brightest fans.10/27/2018 11:17:28 PM |

youre probably right, given who our QB is the only realistic option of winning the game was a turnover and hoping for a flukey busted coverage. you arent getting two scores out of this team in under 1 minute 10/27/2018 11:23:04 PM |

Where did Finley fail late game? The int it’s throw it or get sacked. Then you are saying he didn’t lead us to 10 points in the final minute?
Overall the offense was fine. How many 3rd and long they have and we couldn’t force a punt. 5 PI?
I mean common, a bad defensive effort wins tonight. 10/27/2018 11:23:19 PM |

When he slid for like a 5+yard loss instead of throwing the ball away. He was outside the tackle box, he just had to chunk that shit out of bounds. Also, not necessarily late game but all game long he was throwing high (as he does every game) which led to incomplete passes/field goals because he couldn't throw a face inbounds.
Finley is a good system QB, he knows what throw he should make on pretty much every play. But he doesn't ever hit guys in stride on things like seam routes, he always throws high. He's smart enough to be an NFL QB, but he's not accurate enough to succeed at that level. I realize you people will try to point out his completion percentage as a counter to this, but that just shows me that you don't actually watch us play. He's throwing to guys that are WIDE open on most plays (thanks to his pre snap reads), but in the NFL those guys won't have 3 yards of space between them and the defender, and these deep balls that he just tosses up because his WRs are ridiculously better than 99% of all college DBs will get knocked down/picked in the NFL. Passing windows are much smaller in the NFL and he's going to struggle. I have no doubt he'll make a shit ton of money as a career backup though.10/28/2018 12:40:45 AM |

I think we're better than mediocre. We're just not top level. And that's ok. But being in the top 20 without a strong win on the record was definitely a farse. We should get back there by the end of the season, the 22-25 range seems about right.10/28/2018 12:59:19 AM |

i think calling finley inaccurate is a little inexact. hes very good at ball placement on certain throws like the back shoulder ones. his deep balls really arent that bad most of the time. but he makes poor throws when guys actually get in his face (happens not that often, though more often the last two weeks) and he suffers on throws where having the ability to really gun it in there would help because his arm strength isnt great. when he throws high hes doing it intentionally a lot of the time. he just doesnt have the physical talent to throw it more accurately. its sort of like some things rivers does, except finley doesnt have the godlike anticipation ability of rivers 10/28/2018 1:48:36 AM |
