Got the win over Tenn Tech Univ tonight 10-6. Tied 4-4 in the 4th and TTU took the lead in the 5th to make it 6-4. Nothing doing in the next few innings for either team. Then Luca Tresh comes up and hits a 3-run HR to go up 7-6. #Pack9 had runners on and Jonny Butler comes up with a shot down 1st base line into the corner getting 2 RBIs. JB ended up scoring shortly after for our final run.

Nick Swiney was amazing on the mound. Came in and had 8 Ks in 3.2 innings. Great comeback win for the Pack.

Series @ ND this weekend. Need to get the series and hopefully the sweep.

We weren't punished nearly as harshly as I thought we would be in the polls. We're still looking at a 2-seed in someone else's regional.

We've dropped into 4th place in the ACC (tied with FSU and Miami but we hold both of those tie breakers). We're only one game behind 3rd place (GT), but that's as high as we can climb with Louisville starting to run away with the #1 spot. Louisville will be playing @ND like we just did, but something tells me they will fare much better.

We're at home all week with UNCW Tuesday and a non-conference weekend series vs Radford.

4-0 on the week against easy competition, won't help our RPI but hopefully we got some confidence back. We have one more OOC game against Campbell Tuesday, then two very tough ACC series vs Clemson and @UNC to finish the regular season.

These rankings came before we lost to Campbell 3-5. FSU has pulled ahead of us in the ACC standings, we're now tied for 5th with Miami (but we own the tiebreaker).

Clemson is only two games back of us, and they'll be doing everything they can to leapfrog this weekend. They seem to be heading in the same direction as us though, losing 9 straight ACC games before beating GT in their recent weekend finale.

At one point Clemson was 11-3 and we were 13-1, and both have seriously stunk up the division since then, going a combined 3-17.

Took two of three from Clemson, only loss coming in extra innings. We are now tied with FSU, UNC, and Miami for 3rd place at 16-11. We hold the tie breakers over Miami and FSU, so this weekend's series at UNC is going to be pretty significant.

If we sweep UNC and FSU sweeps Louisville, we will be in a three-way-tie for the top spot in the Atlantic, with us 3-0 over FSU, FSU 3-0 over Louisville, and Louisville 3-0 over us. I have no idea what would happen in that scenario, but it's doubtful all six games will go the way we need them to this weekend.

I incorrectly stated above that we swept FSU 3-0 but it was only 2-1. And not that it will matter anyway, but it turns out no matter what happens in the Louisville/FSU series we're going to lose the tie-breaker. Here are the records vs the division:

FSU also lost Game 1, keeping us 2nd in the division, but now both UNC and Miami are ahead by one game. We're now in 5th place, thankfully we can't fall any farther than 6th. Still a chance for 3 or 4 but we have to win both remaining games and Miami has to lose at least one (vs Duke)

GT is insignificant. They've locked up #1 in the Coastal so they're guaranteed top-2 with Louisville. Interestingly, Louisville lost their series to GT 1-2, so if GT wins and Louisville loses tomorrow, the Jackets will jump into the 1-spot.

All we need to do is win and we get the 3-seed, regardless of what happens in every other game.

Wake hit their stride in the middle of the season, right when they played us (and we were reeling from the Louisville sweep). Seems that time is over and this should be an incredibly winnable game. Then again, it is Wake, and you can't count them out of any game in any sport against NC State.

Even while benefiting from the ridiculous rule that a three-way tie goes to the highest seed, we will likely need both wins to secure a NCAA regional host spot (and maybe more).

^We also don't want to blow our best pitchers Friday just in case we play on Sunday. I hate that (if we make it that far) we don't get an off day between pools and semis.

Wake used 5 pitchers. Peluse threw the most at 3.1 innings (83 pitches) but Mendez & Witt both went 2.1 at 42, 48 pitches each. Peluse was the only one to allow runs. Peluse had their 2nd most starts this season & a 5.74 era & a 3-7 record. They still have Cusick available who has started the most games (19) & is 7-3 but has a 6.44 era. We lost 8-9 to wake the game he started against us in the regular season. He allowed 2 er (5 unearned) in 5 innings. We had 7 hits off of him in the 5 innings but he had 3K's. Mendez is there best overall pitcher.
