I'm a little hazy on my Wesley Crusher lore, but I thought he didn't make it into the academy? But Picard gave him field promotion or something since he was still living on the Enterprise and proved himself useful?

He missed going to the academy when he stayed behind on the Enterprise to rescue Troi and her mother. He later got admitted to the Academy but almost got kicked out because of the accident involving the proto-Tom Paris.

His last appearance was as a cadet in the episode where Picard has to kick out a bunch of Native Americans from a Romulan planet in the neutral zone. He refuses the order, resigns his spot in the academy, manages to freeze time, and then goes on adventures with the Space Pedophile

What's the deal with Guinan not knowing who Picard is? She's also younger than she appeared in Time's Arrow. Are we supposed to believe that the events from that two parter on TNG never existed or am I missing something?

^ Based on how Picard recognized her, I think we're just supposed to accept the recasting and interpret her as the same face we see in Time's Arrow. With the way this show is written, they might also say that El-Aurians can change their appearance in addition to choosing to age.

As for why she didn't recognize him, the altered Confederation future means Picard never went back to have that particular adventure.

I thought this season was good. The finale was kinda mushy but they’re retiring all the classic favorites to make way for the next gen.

I’m a huge fan of seven-raffis synergy in the show too. One thing I miss is the military disciple of trek, but Strange New Worlds seems to retain a lot of this.

Also the first episode of strange new worlds was great. A little heavy on the references but I’m hoping they’re just getting it out of the way.

The way the end the show with a voice over explaining the main moral theme is kinda off putting. Old trek just used to end the show and let the viewer marinate on whatever the theme was. We don't really need crusty old Picard voice spelling out what the message of the episode was like we're children.

I think that might me what is wrong with the writing of both Picard and Discovery-- they have very little subtlety compared to old trek.

Also the set design if phenomenal... I can watch the show just to see all the space-y stuff they have. Amazing attention to detail whoever is building all this stuff.

i made it through 2 or 3 episodes of the dog shit that was s2 before abandoning it and i haven't missed it while watching s3. go find a paragraph synopsis and you'll be fine. s3 is mostly watchable if the nostalgia works on you, but still easily better than s1 or s2 even if it doesn't
