It makes sense that the money wants Wade and Boo wouldn’t. But how much Boo lets that influence his decision is something none of us know. Idk how connected Giglio is at this point. I listen to the OG pod and I generally like him. But he’s not been a journalist for a while now. A lotta people have come and gone since he was last connected at State. I’m not saying he’s full of shit. I just don’t really put a ton of stock in his predictions.

I would be very on board with Gainey, and tbh that kinda feels like the floor here?

^^ Why do you say it makes sense Boo would prefer Gainey over Wade? You thinking because of budgeting concerns alone? My initial thought was that maybe he sees a lot of potential in Gainey for actually winning. But I guess it could purely be the fact that, at least at first, he would bring a lot of excitement, sell tickets, and wouldn't cost much.

Separate from trying to predict what Boo and the decision makers think…my opinion is that if you think Gainey is gonna be a stud one day, then you go get him now and do whatever you can to set him up for success. If we don’t get him this time, there might never be another shot at him. Obviously the same can be said for Wade or any other candidate. But a candidate with ties to the program like Gainey…it’s gonna hurt if he’s hanging banners at his next school and it’s not State.

We all know what is going to happen: we're gonna make a handshake deal with wade, then mcneese state will make it to like the sweet 16 thus preventing an actual deal to be signed. at that point some other school with huge pockets like Texas will swoop in and hire wade. Meanwhile Rick Barnes will retire and Gainey will take the Tennessee job. Odom will have signed with UVA and we will be left with the scraps.

UNC trying to lose to Wake Forest in the ACCT right now. I don't entirely buy that they'll hold onto Davis regardless this year -- not making the tourney for a second time in four years would be rough. I'm not saying I'm rooting for them. But I'd feel a lot better if they got themselves locked into the NCAA tourney.
