6. N.C. State, three verbal commitments

Coach Sidney Lowe has again landed recruits from the talent-rich state of Georgia; among them are two ESPNU 100 players. Lorenzo Brown (Roswell, Ga./ Centennial), No. 48, can play both backcourt positions, and 6-8 PF Richard Howell (Marietta, Ga./ Wheeler), rated No. 58, will join him in North Carolina. Howell played on the same travel team as N.C. State's freshman standout of last year, J. J. Hickson, who was drafted by the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers. Howell has the potential to make an impact comparable to that of Hickson for the Wolfpack next year. Coach Lowe also has a commitment from one of the nation's best perimeter shooters, potential ESPNU 100 prospect 6-5 2G Scott Wood (Marion, Ind.). Although the Wolfpack now have players for all three of their available scholarships, they are still involved in talks with No. 81, 6-5 G/F Garrius Adams (Apex, N.C./ Middle Creek).

Apparently ESPN doesn't realize that Marques Johnson transferred and we now have another scholarship available.

I'll make a bold prediction. If we land Noel Johnson, we will get Derrick Favors. What a complete class that would be. We'd have a guard with ball handling abilities, a lights out shooter, a versatile small forward that has a surprisingly good handle and can really stroke it, a power forward who can both bang down low and has a face up game, and a dominating center. It would be hard for us not to leap frog the Heels as the best class in the nation. Even if we didn't and ended up second, I think it would be safe to say that in reality they would be 1a and we'd be 1b.

Let's go Lowe complete the 5 Pack recruiting class!

Look like Garrius Adams was at the game thursday visiting South Carolina. Thank God he's not trying to get a football scholarship.

K.J. Sherrill to Charlotte; Players work out this morning

Benny Moss lost one to his mentor, Bobby Lutz.

K.J. Sherrill, the 6-7 power forward from Mount Ulla, committed to Charlotte last night, according to Dave Telep at scout.com.

Sherrill, a three-star recruit, also had offers from UNCW, Charleston and Winthrop according to scout.com.

Moss and Lutz have gone head-to-head on several players over the last two years. Shamarr Bowden, a shooting guard from Greensboro, picked Charlotte over UNCW, while Jerel Stephenson turned down an offer from Charlotte to join the Seahawks.

How we do?

Oh, great. This is still NC State.

One will fail to qualify. One will get hit by a bus and never be the same. One will transfer after one year. One will play well and be solid citizen. One will be amazing but take money from a wannabe agent and cause us to vacate an ACC Championship and Final Four appearance.

NC State shit.

Marques Johnson transferred. The information came out on August 13. On paper we now have one more scholarship spot for the 2009 class. ESPN let out early 2009 recruiting class rankings and we had the 6th ranked class, but they said we were out of scholarships.

obvious "one and done's" aren't always done after one.

I'll always take the best player possible (that fits the system), even if they might leave after one.

I think it maybe Deniz Kilicli. When you click on the story on the Wolfpacker homepage it takes you to a story about him from the Kentucky website. He's a 3* PF on Rivals, but Scout hasn't evaluated him yet. He's a 17 year old from Turkey and hasn't been in the states long. He's 6-9 245. Other schools that are interested in him include UConn, Kentucky, Marquette, USC, Texas, and West Virginia.

Story on Deniz Kilicli.
http://www.register-herald.com/sports/local_story_265230841.html?keyword=topstory

Quote :
"When trying to find out exactly what kind of player Mountain State Academy’s Deniz Kilicli was, a UCLA assistant coach told the tale of the talent from Turkey.

“He is more skilled than Kevin Love,” the Bruins assistant said Friday after MSU’s practice at Van Meter Gymnasium. “They’re different type players, but he is more skilled than Kevin.”"

a little bird told me that Favors' Coach Reddick was misquoted and told multiple sources that NCST were still on his list of finalist.

everyone needs to keep calm (dont forget that we were never on Hickson's short or long list until about 2 weeks before he committed to state)

word on the street is that Deniz Kilicli is good enough to be a 2 year and done player. he is THAT good.

we need to get Atsur on the phone with this kid, STAT!
