^ I figured you just had some sort of RSS feed worked out whenever iPhone was mentioned on TWW.

That said, if iPhone came to Verizon, the nation's "largest and most reliable 3G network" would experience much the same pains AT&T's is, I would imagine.

Also, I would probably have to think long and hard about getting an iPhone.

Don't even get me started on Apple's "attention to detail". There's so much random shit it can't do for no reason other than "it can't" or "Apple won't let it".

Regarding the whole "which is the best" arguments: I would like to say that I welcome all the competition between iPhone/Android/webOS. Because as we all know, competition breeds innovation, and that is the one thing that has been missing from the smart phone market for a long time.

It's refreshing to argue about which OS can do some obscure feature instead of wondering why a simple thing like Copy/Paste doesn't exist

I am sure someone has mentioned this in the thread already, but I wanted to ask specifically:

does anyone know exactly when Verizon's releasing the Android upgrade for the HTC Eris?

Thanks!

Yeah that sucks. It's the first place I went.

Otherwise it's a pretty slick browser.

Can I create custom "blocks" for that tab screen startup page?

The Incredible is at the store at North Hills, if anyone wants to check it out.

I followed up on my questions earlier about the DROID, and I have ordered one through Amazon for $19.99. I got the cheapest talk plan and the unlimited data plan, and confirmed from both Amazon and Verizon that I'll be able to use my Duke employee discount to waive the activation fee and get the dual discounts on talk and data. I'm very excited about this - I'm still using a 4+ year old Windows Mobile phone.

well, went and played for about an hour with the Incredible this time at the Garner Store off of 401. Tards wouldn't let me take one outside to see how it compared to the droid. Side-by-side, I still can't really tell a difference performance wise with my droid running SenseUI at 1GHz and neither could the rep. He was kind of shocked. lol The only thing I'd like to have from the Incredible is the camera but I don't really take many pictures so I can't justify the $200. I did manage to sell 2 while I was in there playing around. Verizon needs to hire me since I'm jobless.

Explain to me this senseUI and how it's something that can be downloaded and run at different Hz? I was under the impression senseUI was something that just HTC phones had? Is it part of the android os kernel now? I'm confused

http://alldroid.org/threads/17085-Zeusdroid-Desire-Alpha-Release-ROM

It's only available by default on certain HTC phones like the Hero, Eris, Desire, Incredible, etc but the people at alldroid have ported it to the Droid. They're still trying to get the RIL working in order to be able to make/receive calls with verizon data enabled so you have to leave it off and just use wifi so you won't miss calls. And the kernels are made to allow overclocking with an app like SetCPU. The processor in the droid is under-clocked to 550MHz from 600 from the factory but it's stable at speeds up to about 1.2GHz

It just looks pretty and HTC includes their own widgets. Also offers better exchange support in the default mail app than stock android.

^^^ I pretty much have access to wifi all the time so it isn't a big deal for me. And overall, it runs just as smooth if not smoother than CM. I do have a nandroid backup of the CM rom that I can run any time I plan on using navigation or whatever though.

I got verizon to move up my upgrade dates on both our lines.

I was looking at thier site, and I can either get 2 Moto Droids for $200 total, or 2 HTC Incredibles for $400 total.

I'm hearing some nasty reviews about the Incredible's battery life, but all the reviews say if you can get over that, it beats the droid hands down.

Is the Incredible worth $200 more than the Moto Droid?

^ I ran it on CM and am running it occasionally on the Desire rom I have now.

^^ Best suggestion is to go play with them in the store. I don't really think you can go wrong either way. If I were in the market and didn't currently have a Droid, I'd probably go the Incredible. The Incredible is fast, very fast, has a great camera and lots of eye candy. Transitions are more fluid compared to a stock droid and the browser offers flash lite support out of the box (not full flash). The email app is improved, offers signatures as well as supporting exchange security policies unlike the droid. It doesn't feel quite as solid in the hand as the droid but it has a nice form factor and doesn't feel as cheap as some have made it out to be. Battery life is kind of iffy with standby time nearly half that of the droid and offers 1-2hrs less talk time. You'll likely need to put either phone on the charger ever night so I wouldn't really base the decision on battery life.

The Droid is no slouch though and can definitely hold it's own. It's relatively heavy and has a solid build. The keyboard isn't great but I like the convenience of having it plus you have the option of using nes and snes emulators. And if you're willing to play around with it, you can easily get the look and speed of the Incredible. As it stands now, I don't think the improved camera and fm radio is worth the upgrade cost.

leaked image of the incredible car mount from a while back. From playing with the phone, it looks like the Car Panel app doesn't turn to landscape. Guess you have to leave it vertical unless you using google nav.

anyone having random reboots with their Incredible? Mine did it a lot while driving around Winston Salem yesterday, and it seems to be happening whenever the signal strength drops out in a dead area or whatever...going to take it back to the store today. the only thing I've heard that I don't really like about the Incredible is the battery life . That is the main thing I was already not looking forward to in getting a smart phone. My LG Dare is 18 months old and still goes for 4 days without needing a charge even with checking my email, texting, short calls, and surfing online a decent amount. I can easily go for 5+ if I turn off my email updates and am not surfing the web.

It will be slightly annoying to switch to a phone where the battery might be dead before I even am ready to go to bed. Obviously worth it because of all the other features that come with this kind of phone and I'm sure I will get used to it and it will be a non-issue once I have a new phone but the news is a little aggravating.
