I think West Virginia's defeat of Maryland was the Big East's first BCS non-con win.

WTF NOON? We should have the 3:30 abc slot that Wake/FSU got. Wake is a turd team that is getting molested by HOFer Andrew Luck right now and FSU was already exposed

Yeah this really pisses me off. I'm going down to Atlanta for the game and was really counting on being able to take in some sights before kickoff.

And actually, now that I think about it, I can see why they chose Wake/FSU. Two teams with weak defenses = high scoring excitement. Or something like that.

They showed that in the WVU game. Going in to the weekend the ACC was 1-6 against automatic qualifiers and the Big East was 0-5.

Now the records are:

ACC: 1-10
Big East: 1-6

They also had some power ratings that had the Big East 10th and the ACC 8th. Way too early for that to be meaningful though.

*** The only team in the ACC that looks like they are a good team is Clemson and forgive me for not taking that program seriously.

People are saying FSU looks good but ran in to a great team on the road, but that "great team" also played Utah State and Air Force at home and barely scraped by both by one score... meanwhile they hung half a hundred on FSU. They just aren't that good, this year (FSU)... again.

I think it is clear that the ACC is a better conference this year than the Big East, but God both conferences are embarrassingly bad.

ACC has had some close calls against some decent teams, but cannot get a meaningful win yet. UVA vs USC, UNC vs LSU (even though it should have been a blow out), Clemson vs Auburn were all winningable games for the ACC. Plus some of the losses were against the best teams in the nation. Alabama-Duke, OSU-Miami, Oklahoma-FSU, Stanford-WFU (Stanford looks like a top-10 right now).

The GT loss to Kansas and the of course the VT loss to JMU were the true black eyes for the conference.

So, is this just going to be another year of the Big East and the ACC arguing about which is the shittier conference while the PAC-10's reputation get inflated by virtue of having a lockdown on west coast media and the MWC just glares at the BCS conferences and desperately hopes that someone will notice them?

I'm not sure how you can watch the Pac-10 and not think the are a great conference this year. IMO the are right there with the SEC this year in terms of depth...

People talk about the MWC but really, their overall resume doesn't come CLOSE to competing with the ACC or Big East over the past five seasons. The bottom of the conference is pitiful compared to even the worst BCS conferences...

Pac-10 actually looks very good this year outside of the state of Washington. Both Arizona teams look legit, Stanford is legit, USC will eventually get exposed, but are passing all of their tests so far, Oregon looks like a NC contender, Oregon State is a good team. Cal is garbage, UCLA beat the shit out of an over ranked Houston team.

Chick-fil-A Kickoff to be a doubleheader in 2012

http://www.wralsportsfan.com/college_football/story/8312066/

Quote :
"ATLANTA — The Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game will be a doubleheader in 2012.

Officials announced Saturday that Auburn will face Clemson in a season-opening game at the Georgia Dome, joining a previously announced contest between Tennessee and N.C. State. Specific times and dates for the two games have not been determined.

Chick-fil-A Bowl president Gary Stokan says having two games on the opening weekend “will create a kickoff experience that’s never been seen before.” The announcement came hours before Auburn hosted Clemson in the first of a home-and-home series.

LSU defeated North Carolina in this year’s kickoff game."
