Boring UCL final, I won't even bother to watch even if they air it on network TV like last year. My 2 most hated clubs in Europe, not worth wasting 180+ minutes of my life on. 5/4/2011 8:57:56 PM |

it's been a boring sort of Champions League, especially the knockout stages...very few ties have gone down to the wire, and most have been over after the first leg

I agree, it has been a pretty weak CL this year
it's still the final most wanted to see and based on their respective domestic seasons, the two most deserving candidates to play in the final so from that standpoint, it's pretty good
Quote : | "Boring UCL final, I won't even bother to watch" |
If you don't want to watch because you hate both teams, that makes total sense (I probably wouldn't have watched most of it if it was Real-United) but I can't see how it's "boring."

Boring in the fact that, like you said, they are the two top clubs in Europe this year so it's like two #1 seeds playing for the final. No drama really, unless you are fan of one of the clubs playing. Not saying they don't deserve to be there, it's just not exciting. Plus I hate both clubs. 5/4/2011 10:13:05 PM |

Upsets are cool and all but Final Four games with two Cinderella teams are more boring than two good teams playing, imo. I'm not saying I pull for favorites every game but I like to see a tournament produce a worthy champion and not just somebody who got hot or got lucky with matchups (unless we're talking about Liverpool or NC State winning )
Real-United would have been way worse if we're talking about boring

^^ for some reason, it seems like upsets happen more rarely in soccer tournaments than in tournaments in other sports. a soccer result is more predictable. so it's not necessarily a good thing to have upsets happening, because they just make for boring blowouts later on.
if, for example, Schalke had somehow beaten Man U, that would have sucked, because Schalke would promptly have gotten annihilated by Barca in the final.
I guess it would be different if somebody like Arsenal (a second-tier elite team) were playing Barca or Man U in the final...that, I grant, would be very interesting. 5/5/2011 8:28:19 AM |

"Deck is stacked" implies unfair. Barcelona is quite capable of beating that ass without any bias or cheating, which you seem to think is an inevitability. I honestly can't believe you're already coming out with the pregame excuses because as much as I want them to lose, I really don't think it's that unbelievable United win the game.
What is the chance Barca wins the title in a fair manner (according to Mr. Kiljadn)? like .000001%?5/17/2011 3:42:05 PM |

Kun Aguero's announced he wants to leave At. Madrid.
$$ on Real Madrid to get him cus who wants to play for Man City, Juventus is broke, and Abramovich will be hesitant to drop a ton of dough on another striker. 5/23/2011 7:03:51 PM |
kiljadn All American 44690 Posts user info edit post |
he's got a clause in his contract that he can't go to Real, though. We'll probably see him at City since I'm willing to bet money that Tevez goes to Real in the summer. 5/23/2011 7:49:27 PM |
blanks Veteran 546 Posts user info edit post |
I haven't heard anything about a clause prohibiting him from going to Real, just talk from Atletico's president proclaiming that Kun didn't want to play for Real but I think that loyalty might be waning if Atletico keep dragging their feet on letting go of a player that's publicly said he wants out. 5/23/2011 7:57:05 PM |

Spurs made strong push for him in the transfer window, and we got dolo to drop too if Athletico wants to get a lot richer.
Striker is the #1, #2, #3, and #4 priority at this point and he would be getting some great service from VDV/Modric through the middle and Bale/Lennon on the edge too. What more can a world class striker ask for?

^^ my point was that when given the choice of playing for Man City or some other club with a better history and locker room why would you pick Man City? I don't think money trumps other factors in Kun's situation. 5/23/2011 8:10:47 PM |

Lol...gotta agree with 'jadn on that last one.
My brother's a Spurs fan and I told him the same thing.
Some of the most delusional fans around. They think they're held in the same esteem as the Man Utds, Liverpools, AC Milans, Juventuses, Real Madrids and Barcelonas of the world because they finished in the top 4 one season and made a run in the subsequent CL. Yet they couldn't secure a second consecutive fourth place finish.
Now don't interpret this as hate. I dont hate Spurs. I sort of like em. I hate the previous teams mentioned because they're actually able to replicate success over and over and over.
Also, lol at service from Lennon as if that's supposed to be enticing.

Lennon is still pretty young. I'd say he had a fairly good season considering his youngish age. Playing with him would be a step up for lots of players, especially if you're a striker worth a damn.
Spurs are one world beater striker and healthy season away from claiming a place among the best. They would have gotten into CL in any other league in the world. Hell, if they hadn't had many of their best players miss so much time with injury they probably would have beat someone out for a spot in the PL. 5/26/2011 7:03:07 PM |

I was not referring to Lennon as being inept in all facets, nor to him being a lost cause, but rather alluding to the fact that his crossing is generally horrendous. If I had a nickel for every time I've seen him blast/float the ball in the general direction of nobody... 5/26/2011 11:16:47 PM |
