so far we're 5-3. very good for State. 6-3 if you count Clemson, which wasn't originally included on that list.

Wow...lots of games going the right way for us. Which only means we will shit the bed today.
I don't know how Miss St could be in. They are 8-8 in conference with some pretty bad losses (UGa last night being one of them), not a lot of good wins, and they have been SHITTAY in the last 10 or so games.
I don't think the Texas win is that bad for us. It likely gives us another top 50 win (which if we beat Uva...that will give us 3...which isn't that bad considering most of our losses came against the top 5). Northwestern, Miss St, and Washington losses were awesome. I don't know about Oregon...Pac-10 is garbage, but it's tough to see them not sending the regular season champion. I don't know. That conference is a clusterfuck.
Bottom line...we beat UVa, I think we're in. We lose...we've got maybe a 25/30% chance.

It's downright maddening hearing the talking heads consistently talk about teams like Texas, Miss st., Tennessee, UVA, etc. as if they are in and not even give us a chance. Frankly, even before the tournament our resume matched up well with any of those teams and we were better than a lot even while playing a much tougher schedule than some of them. 3/9/2012 8:24:11 AM |

I'd just rather they go ahead and lose.

During the Purdue/Nebraska game last night, I like how when ESPN posts Purdue's resume (1-8 v RPI top 50) they put "8 of 11 loses against top 50 RPI teams." Sound somewhat familiar? Wish they would use that artful euphemism when talking about State. 3/9/2012 9:38:54 AM |

^ So Purdue has the exact same record as us. We both have 8 RPI top 50 losees, but Purdue has one RPI top 50 win (vs. Mich, how is everyone's quality win against Mich?). But Purdue is locked into the tourny and projected 8 seed, while we sit on the bubble... What gives?
Ohhh b/c Iona is a top 50 and Temple is a top 25 RPI W.... RPI is such shit
Iona, who lost to Hofstra, Marshall, Manhattan, etc..

If we move up to RPI 50 or better it would really help - That would give Miami and Texas more losses vs the RPI top 50 when they show their stats

If we don't win today we don't deserve a bid and we definitely won't get one.
If we win today we are prob 65-70% in, needing a little help. We can't bitch if we miss though because frankly we have a sketchy resume with too many losses and there are quite a few teams who are better than us who are not going to get bids.
Praying for a Maryland upset, but a loss to unc definitely wouldn't hurt our rpi. Just make sure we don't lose by 20+ and give the committee a reason to leave us out 3/9/2012 11:11:44 AM |
