ha yeah we did the same thing. Stayed at the Park Hyatt for two nights free with the Chase Hyatt card and then three more nights free with Chase UR points transferred to Hyatt (before Hyatt increased their hotel categories and points). 8/14/2014 9:51:57 PM |

Two questions....
1. Chase Sapphire Preffered - My fee will be due in October. I don't really want to cancel, but i'd like to have the fee waived. Should i call and request to cancel or just request to be bumped down to the Sapphire basic?
2. Leaving for Europe in a couple weeks, thinking about applying for the Barclay Arrival+ before I leave to get a jump start on the spending limit and also the Chip & Pin technology. What do you think?
All but about 12k of points on my Chase are used up, so i figure it's time to get on another card. 8/15/2014 10:32:45 AM |

So, I have never really looked into reaping the benefits of points on cards, etc.
My wife has a Target red card where we get 5% back on every purchase. We get most of our groceries from there, as well as all basic household items.
We dont travel a ton, so airline points arent THAT enticing..but would be cool I suppose.
What card/programs would you guys suggest for us? What are the best deals at the moment? I'm just kinda lost and not sure where to start with all this haha. 8/15/2014 10:52:38 AM |

I'd also like to hear this....although mine will be up in February.
^ I really like my Chase Sapphire Preferred. I don't do a ton of traveling, but we make about two or three trips a year and it's looking like the rewards from my card will cover both of my trips this year (one for a wedding in Philly, the other for a family trip to Aruba). Better than my past BofA rewards Visa...where I would get an ipod or something every other year.8/15/2014 11:52:15 AM |

1. You could call Chase and ask them to waive it or ask for some pts. If they don't do that you can just downgrade it.
2. Sounds good
^^ Chase pts can always be redeemed for cash if you really never travel. Sapphire is probably the most popular at 40k pts sign up bonus ~400 in straight cash 8/15/2014 12:18:27 PM |

Barclay pushed it through but said I should spend more. Citi needed approval to move around some credit. Other times I'll have to close a card in order to get approved for the new one. Chase is usually nosey as fuck and wants to know why I need 8 chase cards.

This is an old deal, but I'm considering the BoA mastercard. You essentially get 25-30 bucks every quarter for paying off the max account balance regularly. Only catch is you have to have a non zero balance every month of the quarter. There is no cash back, so this card is strictly for making 120 bucks of free money every year. 8/25/2014 10:47:53 AM |

So you're just gonna charge a little bit to that card every month to get $120 of free monies?

It's still there, they just buried it in their new points website so its harder to find/use. I just used my $500 towards my remaining student loans, thankfully its still 1point/cent to do those rebates. 8/28/2014 5:48:03 PM |

I guess that's subjective. I fly Delta almost exclusively (CVG) and I actually really like the airline - so I actually use the miles (versus selling them off). Plus the perks of having a skymiles card (have had the Gold for years) make it worth it - save myself $50 on every roundtrip flight (free checked bag).9/9/2014 1:29:48 PM |

What sort of valuation are you getting? I was barely getting 1 cent a mile last time I used them domestically.
^ Never heard of it, and not surprised "each point is worth less than 1/4 of a cent" http://www.nerdwallet.com/card-details/card-name/PNC-points-Visa
'the points have a value of around a quarter cent each' http://saverocity.com/pfdigest/pnc-credit-card/

^you can use "pay with miles" (where 50,000 miles is good for a $500 flight) or the assigned Skymiles flight values (which apparently WERE recently devalued, almost all increasing at least 5,000pts per flight). But I've gotten direct CVG-SFO flights for 25,000 miles, which IMO isn't too bad.
if that's what you meant by your question

Yeah, guess I'm just spoiled since I do all my domestic traveling with Southwest via 1.6 cents/pt and no blackout dates + companion pass. Glad to hear I can get at least 1 cent/pt with delta though.
