Does your water company also supply your internet, cable, and phone service? Also, smart phones exist, and were our primary method of communication for the week that we lacked home internet service.

We don't have a dishwasher. Welcome to a 60 year old house in central jersey.

Wouldn't seem silly if the place you moved into had a mouse problem when you arrived. Even if that wasn't the case, there has been no ETA on return of water service to our block, and the explicit instruction broadcasted to prepare for a minimum of four days without it.
I came in here to post: I so hate how elections are reported. Then again, I expect nothing less from these people. Assume all citizens are dumb ==> treat all citizens like they are dumb. Fun times!

I suck at eating wings I got some last night because I had been craving them. I don't like gristle or greasy parts so I leave the end bits that are just skin. That was like the 5th time I have had wings ever so maybe I will get better with practice. 11/7/2012 10:56:24 AM |

I make my own sauce that is the perfect blend between spicy and sweet. It's that kind of sauce that you don't even notice the heat until you eat 4 or 5 of them, then all of a sudden BAM! I think sitting in the fridge for a few days makes them sweeter for some reason. 11/7/2012 10:59:36 AM |

^ +1 for making your own sauce.
I have a ginger wasabi sauce I use quite a bit. Sinus problems tend to go away while I'm eating those. 11/7/2012 11:01:47 AM |

My sauce is very basic:
1 bottle Frank's 1 stick of butter sugar/splenda to taste
What makes my wings unique is the dry rub I marinate them in before frying. I will not divulge that recipe, lol. 11/7/2012 11:03:50 AM |
Skwinkle burritotomyface 19447 Posts user info edit post |
What do you put in your sauce? My understanding is that usual wing sauce is hot sauce + butter. We made some in that style with some super hot habanero sauce I made last year, and the butter cut pretty much all of the heat. I was le sad. 11/7/2012 11:04:00 AM |

I have tinkered with adding different flavors to the sauce, but I have found that adding the flavor directly to the chicken before frying it gives a better result. 11/7/2012 11:13:16 AM |

my favorite wing sauce involves OJ and honey in addition to the franks and butter. I could drink that stuff out of a bucket. 11/7/2012 12:39:31 PM |

So do the really spicy sauces at wing joints not have butter? Or is there some secret to getting heat to cut through the butter? 11/7/2012 12:41:04 PM |
djeternal Bee Hugger 62661 Posts user info edit post |
^^ I am going to have to try that. I am looking for all the honey recipes I can get my hands on, considering I will have gallons of it this time next year
^Pretty much all wing sauces use butter. It is what thickens the sauce and helps it bind to the wings. I have never found that the butter cuts the heat. If I don't add sugar to my sauce, it is so hot I can barely eat it. If you want it hotter, you can always add some jalapeno or hotter pepper to it during the cooking. Just drain the sauce through a sieve to remove the pepper/seeds before tossing the wings in it.

Jalapeno to make it hotter is a little laughable to my palate. I think I have burned off my heat receptors, hence my problem. When we made the wings I'm talking about last year, we used a super hot habanero based homemade hot sauce. Once we combined it with butter, the heat was, to our tastes, gone. Fareako agreed. 11/7/2012 1:02:37 PM |

Damn, you like it SUPER hot then. I added half a habanero to my sauce 1 year ago for the superbowl and none of my guests could eat more than a few, including myself.
Did you keep the seeds in? That will make it like 10x hotter

How long have you had your sore throat? I've had mine for a month (some days worse than others). The only thing I can think of is allergies, but am skeptical to go to the doctor because I feel fine otherwise.11/7/2012 1:08:49 PM |

I don't remember if I left the seeds in that sauce.
This is a problem I have at restaurants. I go and order something and emphasize "please make it as spicy as you possibly can, really" and it still comes out not even tasting spicy to me.

since saturday but its gotten worse since then. it wouldnt be a big deal if it wasnt so painful to swallow, its not like scratchy/dry sore, its like every time I swallow I have to prepare myself for the sharp pain. Sometimes the pain expands into my ears and head. 11/7/2012 1:12:28 PM |
