I woke up at 4:45 because there was noise at my window. I saw the shadow of a man but convinced myself it was a tree branch or something, but no, it was a man. There was a strap hanging down outside my window that he was using to try to get at the top of the window. I called 911 but the call wouldn't go through (really, WTF? It's not like I would call that number for fun; it kind of needs to work). So I ran to my car and drove away and then called 911 and talked to the cops for 45 minutes and they said they couldn't find anyone. So they came back and did a sweep of my place and couldn't find anything outside or anything that looked wrong. They left.

Then 5 minutes later they knocked on my door and had the guy. Apparently he knew the daughters of the woman who lives above me and was trying to get in because he didn't have anywhere to go for the night, or something like that. And they said that like it's supposed to make me feel all better, because he wasn't trying to get into MY apartment. That's good. I feel all better now. Thanks.
