Hey Monday, thanks for the extra dose of Murphey's Law this morning. It was very refreshing after getting almost no sleep last night.

I'll be ok once I make it to lunch.

^^^ hey, I've been geeking out about game of thrones/a song of ice and fire before the TV series was even a reality and I have an entire bar cabinet full of craft beer so they're not mutually exclusive to liking furniture

elise and I both swear by Emergen-C.

I drink it twice a day whenever the kids are sick or I'm feeling under the weather. It may all be in my head, but it sure seems like it helps.

Season 3 should be awesome if they do the book justice (I know it's not covering ALL of book 3 but still). I haven't seen the Tudors but heard good things.

Which would be cheaper/more fun for the bride? A DC bachelorette or Vegas? Hmmm...

^^it's good. not the same as game of thrones but still interesting to me since it involves power hungry politicians, chopping off heads, and whining kings. and natalie dormer as anne boleyn!

dc is so fun though! i could walk up and down the mall forever and ever. and they have really cool restaurants and bars. it's pretty much my favorite little big city and i'm still sorta bummed we didn't move there. i'm sure vegas is more crazy but i'm too old for crazy now

I'm going to a DC bachelorette party at the end of March. we'll be living up there already and i don't know your time frame of when you're looking to do a bachelorette but i can let you know how it goes. i imagine it will be a lot of fun - i have been out to DC plenty of times and there's tons to do during the day and at night.

DC you don't even have to go downtown. you could stay in clarendon and still have a row of bars to hit up in a 2 mile radius that are actually really fun.

i've done Savannah and Charleston as well before. both fun - we did Savannah St Patty's Day weekend and Charleston in mid-August.

also have done some wine tour bachelorette outings in NC which was a lot of fun. we left from Charlotte because that's where the bride lived.

Savannah wouldnt be out, but Nashville is as the recent wedding she was in had the bachelorette there.

I just know she'd love walking around and going to the smithsonian during the day before a night out. I've got to convince the other matron of honor (yes 2 of us and only members of the bridal party) that dc > Vegas.

i only had 2 bridesmaids and since both of them lived out of town, we just kept it simple and did it in Raleigh since one of my bridesmaids had to fly in from Chicago and the other had to drive up from Wilmington.

That's. different.

^we're all here in Raleigh. Most of the guests are too. Only a few, if they came, would be coming from out of town. Wedding is here as well.

I'm torn over the whole thing honestly. The bride is of the "I don't want people spending a lot" which I get, but I feel, and i think the other MOH does too based on our conversations, bc she was such an awesome MOH for us we'd like to surprise her completely with a trip.

my friend's fiance is having her bachelorette party in Toronto (she's canadian, her MOH lives in Toronto). but that's still asking her bridesmaids to fly to Toronto all on top of their destination wedding being in Mexico.

does it? I have no idea.

He wants to get a cabin on a lake in Minnesota, which sounds like it could be fun. I was thinking we could fly into Minneapolis, and spend a day in the city (catch a Twins game, check out Mall of America, I dont know what else there is to do there) before we go to the cabin.

I've known about this for a month or so and still cant wrap my head around why he wants to go to Minneapolis

I'm guessing everyone lives in the Charlotte area too? Thats a good way to piss your best friends off

that sounds very similar to my situation. most of the guests lived locally, except for my bridesmaids. they were open to going where ever i wanted to go but i wanted to be able to do the bridal shower during the same weekend so my MOH didn't have to fly in twice prior to the wedding or miss out on one of the events. going somewhere is fun - as long as everyone is on board and okay with the costs.

DROD900 talk to Gainey. He lived in Minneapolis for a year before moving back to Raleigh. He wasn't the one who told me, but he may have some insight.

and yeah, all of the other bridesmaids are in Charlotte. so they have to fly to Toronto and then a month later fly to Mexico. haven't heard any rumblings about it....yet.

the groom for this wedding is so indecisive, so we have no idea what we're going to do for him. He's talked about renting a car and doing something like a 5 MLB stadium tour, but not sure people would want to take the days off needed to make that happen.

that has been my experience. the bride pays for little to none of the expense--bar tabs, dinner whatever, is picked up by the group with whomever is hosting/planning probably throwing in a bit more. the other MOH and I would probably pay for her transportation there, and the cost for her lodgings would be covered by the group including us.

good lord I don't understand the people on craigslist . We go and see something in person today over lunch and said we were 100% ready to buy at the full-listing price but that we couldn't pick it up today and the lady says it is fine because they didn't need to get rid of it within any time frame or anything and we could pick it up Saturday. 2 hours later we get a text that said her husband sold it for $40 less than listing price this afternoon without checking with her.

We had the full listing value with us in cash ($40 more than the other person paid). We asked if she needed anything from us to hold it until Saturday and she said she was fine since we actually came in person to see it.

It was just a miscommunication between her and her husband apparently, but it was extra frustrating since something extremely similar happened this past weekend with someone else.
