you're obviously not allowed [legally] to re-post their premium articles

but if something is mentioned in a forum i don't see a way they can require that the information not be discussed elsewhere (on the interwebs or in person)

repost (ANY copying and pasting) = bad
discussion = okay

where in the fuck am i acting "special". some of the stuff i do read and a lot of the stuff gets sent to me via chats with people that are a lot closer to the program than anyone on this board / myself included. when i am told i can share the info, i share

im not trying to come off as fabalus or some super insider. i just like to share things i hear to my fellow wolfpackers.

Maybe it's been posted, but I found this on Pack Pride. Really makes you reevaluate your thoughts on Wall and his character. It did for me at least...

There's another article that's linked on that page.
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/recruiting/basketball/mens/news/story?id=3608959

Quote :
"He admits that the scare made him re-evaluate picking a school that would put a plane ride between him and his mother.

So does that make him lean toward the Wolfpack?

"It's definitely something that you've got to look at," Wall said of the distance factor. "Everyone wants to play at home, and that's why I kept them [NC State] on my list. It's a great school. If your mom's not healthy you don't want to go so far away that you have to fly to see her."

Pulley leans back on the couch in the den of their two-story townhouse and smiles at the thought of her son running out of the tunnel at the RBC Center decked out in Wolfpack paraphernalia. She grew up a Wolfpack fan and had a particular admiration for former NC State forward Rodney Monroe.

"Yeah that was my man right there," Pulley said. "[In North Carolina] you either like Duke or Carolina, but I just always liked State."

It would obviously be great to land Wall, however, I still think he's a long shot despite his mother's medical condition. But if he were to commit to us we would be left with Costner, Smith, and Howell to fill the front court. We need to grab a 4/5 with this last scholarship don't we? Btw, I know this has been discussed. I'm just reiterating the fact.

^^ Man that makes State sound like an easy favorite, but it all depends on how much $$ the other schools pay Wall.

if Wall and Favors wanted to commit, we've got the scholarships to take them. We also apparently have another ship to give otherwise, meaning that if we wanted to take a class of 6, we can make that happen.

We gotta hope that Favors doesn't commit to GATech this weekend. If we get one of Wall/Favors, we could pull in the other.

Most likely we'll get neither.

Upping the minimum gpa requirement from a 2.0 to a 2.4?

LOL.

Yea, definitely helping him in the long run with that.

Well the NCAA has a sliding scale for qualification. If you have a 2.0 GPA then you have to have a higher score on the SAT than a person with a 2.4.

It should be much easier to get a higher GPA with the grade inflation nowadays.

Favors cut his list to 6
we made the cut, along with memphis, GT, UGA, Florida State, and Kentucky.
Calipari was also in town this past weekend talking to a certain big time recruit.

Enloe junior Melvin Tabb took an unofficial visit to NC State on Saturday. you may have seen him w/ Pete Strickland.

Florida State??? Really?

How the hell does Hamilton even have a job much less pull these recruits in? They have a top 25 class almost every year and haven't made a NCAA tournament in years.

^I hope you are just trolling. This will be Lowe's third year and he has had 1 good recruiting class out of three. Hamilton is starting his seventh year at FSU. Not really comparable even though I am not the biggest fan of Lowe.

i was shaky but i can honestly say i have full confidence in coach lowe.

he could do a better job making this transition quick, but i think he'll get it done.

Yeah, I'm just joking around. But people could make the argument and ask how lowe is pulling or in the running with these recruits as well. Cuz the '09 and '10 classes are turning out to be great classes. Certainly not reflective of State's record the last two years.

[Edited on September 29, 2008 at 5:29 PM. Reason : p.s.-I am not a lowe hater, nor do i think he should be fired]

^^ this is his 4th recruiting class, and it will be his 2nd VERY solid class. not to mention he really didn't even have time to recruit a real class his first year, ending up with big ol bartroz and dennis "i was built for the princeton O" horner.

last years freshman class included 5* hickson, 4* tracy smith, 3* johnny thomas who got injured before we even saw him in a pack uniform, and 3* javy gonzalez. say what you want about how he handled hickson once he got here, but he still got him here. this class was #17 nationally.

this years freshman class includes julius mays (who was mr basketball in indiana) and cj williams, both 3* recruits.

next years freshman class (so far) includes 4* lorenzo brown and richard howell, and high 3* scott wood. and we're right there with the top 2 players in the class.

2010 already holds 5* cj leslie, and 3* ryan harrow.

pst, 3stars are decent prospects in football, but nothing to brag about in basketball.

pst, tyler zeller (unc commit) was mr. basketball in indiana.

It depends on the 3*. If it is a Rivals Top 150 prospect that is 3* then they are pretty good and may even truly be better than some of the low 4* that are above them. Wood is a good prospect and has been shooting it as good if not better than Redick did at his age.

yeah, my post was directed at the one above yours. didn't check my ^'s, apparently. i was arguing that we've had/will have more than 1 decent class. and you can pretty much throw out the first year of recruiting.

and my bad, mays was a finalist for mr. basketball w/zeller. hopefully zeller turns out like kris lang (nc mr. bball).

Just realized from this article that the guy who coached my high school basketball team (Southern Durham), Levi Beckwith, is the coach at Word of God. Not that I was on the team or anything but had a couple good ACC prospects graduate during that time including David Noel and Anthony King. Anyway Beckwith was at the Herb Sendek basketball camp when I went there my first couple years in high school. Maybe he might push Wall a little more towards State if we're lucky (I know King and Noel didn't pick us but I don't think we offered).

[Edited on September 30, 2008 at 12:19 AM. Reason : Noel was going to Carolina anyway since it was his childhood dream, he walked on his first year.]

Could we legally (i.e. not break NCAA rules) form a group to stand outside of the Dail Practice Center to cheer on the team when they come in and start Derrick Favors and John Wall chants if we just happened to see them?

^i think it's illegal to form a group to do anything like that

however, we could just all be standing around nonchalantly doing something else and then be like, "oh look, it's favors and wall. let's try to meet them". that's when we rush the duo and then get the boosters to pop up from the roof and start making it rain.
