Page 31 is digging the newest Newsboys cd, In the Hands of God, yet sad because Peter Furler left.

two tracks in and i'm pretty sure Alberta Cross - Broken Side of Time is going to end up being a favorite of 2009. "ATX" is badass.

after giving the monsters of folk album a few spins

i'm really glad i didnt order tickets for their show here in philly

i was very close to doing so a few months ago whent hey went on sale without even hearing the album, but the $50+ pricepoint scared me away..

i think a lot of it depends on how much you like the traveling wilburys

that joke was being applied to this band before anyone heard note one, but after hearing it a few times, that's exactly what they sound like, minus some jeff lynne overproduction

the album does drag a bit, but the last track, "his master's voice" is great.

it came out about a month before Monster Head Room.. i guess it's an EP, even though it has 8 tracks on it and isn't much shorter than the full length. it's good though.

something wrong with opening for wavves? Zach Hill f'd up my ribcage and it feels great. There was no stage at the venue I was at in Chicago...so we circled the band. Great night.

i think it's because the self-titled album sounds much closer to wavves' aesthetic than monster head room does.

I like the new MOF album a lot.... and I too made the Traveling Wilbury's comparison long, long ago on this very interwebs board.

I do agree with others than the first half is more enjoyable than the 2nd, but I really like the album a lot.

im trying to get into this new Le Loup, mainly because on their first album the song "We are Gods! We are Wolves!" still holds the title for "Catchiest Song About Abraham Sacrificing His Son". probably will forever. also check out "Breathing Rapture" for a simon-garfunkelesque apocalypse. Actually i think the whole album is bible related and i thought they were a Christian tagged band but I dont see any mention on wikipedia.

Anyway, on the new album i love the guitar picking on "Morning Song" and "Grow" sounds like an outtake from Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished. "Forgive Me" sounds like it would be fun live, reminds of Arcade Fire. "Go East" sounds like a Grizzly Bear/Dept. of Eagles arrangement. "Sherpa" is the standout and the only song I had to immediately hit replay on. it lifted my spirits. as did the last two songs so it was a great close, not so great opening for the album. overall 6.8/10 for me. won't top any lists for the year for me but enjoyable.

ok so im listening to all my new music at once, shoot me

now its onto Neon Indian's Psychic Chasms. cheesy lo-fi synth pop. notables "Deadbeat Summer", "Terminally Chill", and "Psychic Chasms"

i'm still trying to track down a copy of Toro y Moi cause its similar i think

i agree. the new album is more along the lines of songs like "tell the world" and "where do you run to?" and less like "no". will definitely be at the 10/27 show.

scotland yard gospel choir is great. it sounds like a smiths cover band, but good.

built to spill is, of course, excellent. the first half feels a little subdued but there are lots of high points, like "aisle 13", "life's a dream", "oh yeah" and "things fall apart".
