So, the two beers an hour, six a visit is a new policy? Because I've never heard of it.

shots should obviously count the same as a pint. That's if they're truly enforcing this stupid fucking policy.

I believe it is their "keep the glass" night "glass" for this week. You just gotta go, pick up a ticket, and redeem it at 7

it's to maintain the sanctity of their atmosphere

can't have anyone get too drunk, it'll ruin the quaint feeling of 400 assholes in a long room where you can't hear shit, it takes forever to get a drink, and the walls are covered with the musings of drunks

what a ridiculous policy

i could easily drink six beers in a couple hours, eat some food in between(although the food at saucer isn't very good imo), and still be just buzzed. i would be pretty annoyed if i wasn't even drunk and they cut me off

although the only times i go to saucer is when i wanna try a new beer, and when i do that i'll usually only order one or a few anyway.

There are special circumstances. The way it's been explained to me it's not nearly as cut and dry as it's made out to be here. Though it seems Raleigh is taking it a little more serious. Also, you can blame the San Antonio location for this.

It won't last. There's just no way.

Long term the bar won't survive with this stupid policy.

I heard what happened. Unfortunately, I'd had about 10 pints at that point and I don't remember.

is this it?

http://www.ksat.com/news/27456364/detail.html

Quote :
"SAN ANTONIO -- The owner of the Flying Saucer Beer Emporium confirmed to KSAT by phone that his bar is being investigated by Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission in connection with a drunken driving accident that killed a San Antonio police officer.

Shannon Wynn said his staff is cooperating with the investigation being conducted by the TABC.

According to San Antonio Police Chief William McManus, Christopher Baldaramos drank a total of 16 beers the night he hit Officer Stephanie Brown while driving the wrong way on Interstate 35 near downtown.

According to published reports, Baldaramos was served 13 of those beers at the Flying Saucer before being cut off, then downed his last three beers at the Oak Hills Tavern on Fredericksburg Road.

Lt. Craig Smith, with TABC, said his office is waiting on toxicology reports from the medical examiner's office.

Smith said his office has investigated the Flying Saucer within the past 12 months for serving an intoxicated customer, but the investigation did not result in a penalty."

This will seriously not stop me from going there. I rarely drink more than 4 beers when I go. Most people I know use it as a pregame spot anyway. If you are on beer number 5 just order a bigfoot draft or seeing double .... problem solved.

I think I had a sweetwater pilsner, bigfoot, rochefort 10, and dragon's milk on saturday and was totally fucked up. I am not a lightweight either.

are you saying that the policy will lead to the downfall of saucer? because I think if they strictly implemented it, it would hurt business, but I don't think it would drive them out (at least not immediately). But i definitely do believe that after everything cools down, they will start phasing it out- probably be stricter about people getting wasted, but in all honesty, that is how bars are supposed to be
