Possible win, if they got off another quick, albeit improbable, 2. But they didn't, so Maryland is guaranteed at least a 2-seed in the ACCT, where they would play either GT or NCSU, if the season ended today. 2/27/2010 9:57:52 PM |

ya when you break things down duke is pretty weak. only 3 significant scorers which won't be enough come tourney time and when your all american is the point guard, it won't bode well for you down the stretch having the ball in the hands of your best scorer, playmaker and ft shooter. Then the bench is thin upfront with only four bodies to throw into the game. They only have one seven footer in the starting lineup and are a team that relies too much on their great defense to supplement a pretty good offense.
All the makings of a first weekend exit.

^^ I was getting ready to post that if Zoubek keeps playing the way he did the past few games they could easily make the final four. I was even getting ready to make a grand statement about how this team with a decent inside presence would be better than the JJ Reddick/Sheldon Williams team from like '06. Then I took a glimpse at the boxscore against Virginia . Seems like Zoubek got completely shut down.
^ that sucks 2/28/2010 11:55:36 PM |

people so easily confuse having an inside presence with having a tall guy who can score a bunch. A perfect example would be ncstate who has one of the best inside scorers inthe country but lacks inside presence to alter shots, grab rebounds and give up fouls. 3/1/2010 12:03:00 AM |

what an obscure and irrelevant statistic...we're still talking about Zoubek right? You can throw any numbers out there regarding Zoubek you want but his 5.6 ppg speaks for itself. Duke will steamroll a low-major opponent in the first round and then go cold from the perimeter in either then second or third round games for yet another dissapointing finish.3/1/2010 12:33:41 AM |

Ah ok, so you were talking about Tracy Smith then. Fair Enough. What are your thoughts on the Pac 10 next season? It can't be worse than it was this year, and it seems like the Oregon schools will have coaching changes. I think it will be UofA, ASU and UCLA at the top with Stanford perhaps Cal (they're losing almost all of their scoring but bringing in a top 25 class) in contention for a league title. 3/1/2010 12:54:13 AM |

I realize you're a moronic troll and everything, but it happened last year against Nova in the tourney so let's not pretend like there isn't a precedent for this happening. They also aren't going to get all the ridiculous calls they get at Cameron on a neutral site.

They weren't rebounding like this last year. This is the best rebounding duke team since 2001. Of course they can and probably lose to Nova. Nova is one of the best teams in the nation and will likely be in the final four along with kentucky kansas and syracuse who would also likely beat duke. There are only a few teams that would beat Nova. We're talking about the sweet 16 though, not the elite 8 game.
Last year they relied heavily on Henderson and had 3 less big men that were worth a damn. 3/1/2010 8:23:36 AM |

I think Kent is out, but I think Robinson is safe.
Cal is losing 4 senior starters...including 2 guys who played for Cal 5 years ago when State played them in the NCAAs! Damn that seems like forever ago. But unless their recruiting class includes John Wall 2.0, they don't stand a chance.
I think it's between Stanford, WSU, ASU and UofA. Williams is really really good, Solomon Hill has potential, Bejarano might be good, K-Real needs to step it up3/1/2010 9:21:26 AM |

NITology updated today for the first time since 2/22, and they moved up to a 6 seed? And Miami is in as a 7 seed, but we aren't? They are only 7 spots above us in the RPI, and what decent wins do they have?
They have beaten Minnesota, Wake, GT, and VT. We have beaten Marquette, Wake, Duke, FSU, as well as sending Miami to the basement. 3/2/2010 1:35:41 AM |

I said he got shut down. You assumed I just meant points b/c you're a dumb troll. He was averaging over 12 rebounds a game over the past 4 games until the other night, where he had all of like 5. He has also, out of nowhere, developed some post moves. Before, his entire offensive arsenal was just being tall as fuck.

Basically, any real State fan should be rooting for UNC tonight, right?
We lose the tiebreaker to UNC, so if they are tied with us at the end of the year we're fucked.
However, we own the tiebreaker over Miami, so if they are tied we win it.
I don't know about you, but I'd like to have our first season with Harrow/Brown include a Big 10/ACC Challenge game. 3/2/2010 9:00:26 PM |

I'm fine with being last if we lose the next 2, but I'd rather we be able to lose 1 and still be able to be higher ranked than Carolina.
If we go 1-1, and Miami goes 1-1, they'd still be below us and Carolina would be in last.
We should also be rooting for UVA when they play BC.
