Teheran looked good tonight. Martinez with two clutch innings. Hopefully they already sent Venters to St. Louis. Dude is burnt toast. Wonder who Fredi will send out for the 9th? I hope not Moylan. Moylan retired as many batters last night as I did.

David Ross with another great game. I almost feel bad that he signs with us to be a backup because he is better than 2/3 of the starting catchers in the game.

Ross wouldn't be as effective playing 130 games a year

Chip Caray telling us that people came to see Varvaro pitch

^ yeah I realize that, but he'd still be better than a lot of starters out there. Braves are fortunate to have him. LOL at some of the met players in this game Pedro Beato. Sounds like a Jaybee alias.

Ross is the second best catcher in the NL East. I couldn't name two other catchers in baseball, so I'm gonna say he's top 5 overall.

This team sucks dick right now. Can't hit shit. Prado, Uggla, McCann, Heyward, Bourne, etc all look like complete ass at the plate. Early in the season when the team was hitting like this we at least had JJ and Hanson rolling out and keeping the Braves in the game.

Now we've got LOLwe and rookies and unsurprisingly we are losing a lot. Can't believe we might blow this lead though. Need to beat the shit out of the Marlins this week.

^ Braves have 15 games left, Cards have 16. Braves are 4 up in the loss column. If the Braves go 7-8 to close out the season, the Cards will need to go 12-4 to force a tie breaker.

The Cards still have 4 with the Phillies and 2-2 versus them would be expected so they'll need to go 10-2 in their other games (unless Charlie Manuel decides he'd rather see the Cards than the Braves in the playoffs).

Ultimately the Braves just need to start playing better. That blown save on Friday by Kimbrel was brutal watching him issue two 2-out walks right in front of Pujols.

Nothing like watching a bunch of rookie pitchers try and help a team make the playoffs

Seriously Hudson and Lowe need to step the fuck up and pitch monster games this week. Fucking ridiculous that the Braves are in a playoff race at this point.

Also how in the hell do the Marlins have a winning road record? That is absurd.

WOW. Bases loaded with one out. All of the players we wanted at bat were at bat that inning. FAIL. 3 runners stranded in the bottom of the ninth with a chance to walk off.

Prado, Freeman, and McCann were unbelievably unclutch last night. Bullpen came up with some huge outs and kept giving the Braves a chance to win and the middle of the order continued to shit it away. Just plain sad to see.

As for the playoffs, thank God for the Pirates comeback win last night. Glad that the D-backs have caught the Brewers for 2nd best NL record (Kirk Gibson for manager of the year). If the Braves hold on, I'd much rather see them play the D-backs in Arizona than the Brew Crew in Milwaukee.

The Brewers are playing like shit too so maybe that would be a better matchup. Does not really matter when you have a team that can only manage 4 runs on 14 hits

I still have no faith in Arizona actually being a good team. They have a better rotation than the Brewers but only one lefty in Saunders. Braun and Fielder scare me and I'd consider not watching any game featuring Nyjer Morgan. Gimme da snakes I want da snakes

^^ I think the Brewers will have a pretty solid playoff rotation (Greinke, Gallardo, Marcum). Arizona's guys are pitching well, but are much less proven as is their young lineup. And yes the idea of facing Prince and Braun in a short series is scary. Milwaukee has a better pen as well with Axford, K-Rod, and Saito.

I just hope the Braves can finish the season on an upswing. McCann's HR was huge tonight, made up for his two horrible late game strikeouts last night. You could tell Chipper lead that team meeting today, wonder if he does retire after this season if the Braves will make him a coach immediately.

^ he's already said he's definitely coming back next year, plus he's got a club option for 2013. huge game tonight, let's just win at least 7 or 8 of these last 13 games and we should be alright. i'm praying we get hanson back before the end of the season, it seems jurrjens is a lost cause for the playoffs although all the young guys have been pitching really well. hudson needs to dominate again too, b/c it seems lowe ain't gonna get it done

13 games to go, 4.5 game lead. Card with 14 games left

Braves go 5-8, Cards will need to go 10-4. Braves go 6-7, Cards need to go 11-3. Cards 4 game set with the Phils this weekend will dictate if we will really have a playoff race or not. Hoping that the Astros can beat the Phils again tonight so that Philly does not have a playoff spot clinched before starting the St Louis series (i.e. more incentive to let their starters go 7+).

LOL at Braves likely playoff rotation since JJ is very, very likely done. Hudson, Hanson (coming off the DL with maybe 1 start in before the playoffs), and Beachy. Lowe for long relief or 4th starter if the Braves make it past the divisional round. I'd almost rather see Delgado or Minor than a 70% Hanson. Plus no way Hanson will be able to go on 3 days rest.

should have let delgado go 1 more inning today. I'm not really worried about the pitching too much anymore, even if we don't get hanson and jurrjens back, b/c all the young guns have been great recently and we have hudson and lowe's experience. the offense is what will be our undoing, it's awful right now

Gonzalez has been hitting the ball well since coming back from his mini absence. Finally some clutch hitting the last two games. Come on Pirates.

^^ Delgado was at 101 pitches thru 5 and no way in hell are the Braves going to let him go more than about 100 pitches.

Double post.

Read on the AJC that Medlen is targeting the playoffs to return from his injury. If he's 100%, then that could be a big plus for the Braves. My gut says they'll leave him off the roster unless he looks really good, but it's nice to hear some good news regarding his rehab.

^ How can Philly get a matchup with MIN if the NL East is playing the AL East? They are not the so called "natural rival to Philly" Isn't that Toronto?

Either way it does suck dick to have an unbalanced schedule within a division. Braves and Mets and I guess you could argue Marlins, get shit on with their natural rivals while Nats and Phils get easier competition.

Damn the Braves suck dick right now. Between Lowe, Beachy, and Venters, it is like watching minor league pitchers. Lowe should not be given another start this season. Let Martinez start.

Braves have 9 games left, 3 @ Marlins, 3 @ Nats, 3 vs. Phillies. Considering that the Braves shit the bed against all of those teams, I expect us to go 3-6.

Cardinals have a much easier stretch for their last 10. 1 tonight @ Philly, 3 vs. Mets, 3 vs. Cubs, 3 @ Astros. I see the Cards going 7-3 or better.

If the Cards win tonight, it'll be a real kick in the nuts to the Braves. Fucking Phillies were on damn fire and then ran into Houston and now they're about to drop 3 out of 4 to St Louis.
