On paper, Kentucky shouldn't lose a game. But saying that Kentucky can only beat themselves is stupid. What if some team like Duke goes 21/28 from behind the arc against them while Kentucky plays a good game? Is that Kentucky coming out flat and beating themselves?

I think Kentucky is the most talented team in the country and I will be penciling them in to the end of my bracket, and I think they're a better team than last year's team who, on paper, should've beaten UConn. But I don't think they're any better than the 09-10 team with Wall, Cousins, Bledsoe, Patterson, etc. That team was a little younger and did lose a couple games in the regular season, but were the huge favorites to win it all and didn't get past the Elite 8.

They also haven't been tested by more than a handful of good teams this year. That stuff becomes a factor when you're playing in March.

At the rate we're playing I would feel better drawing Kentucky as opposed to some mid-major. This team brings it when we play good schools but occasionally get destroyed when we play the teams we should beat.

on the plus side, we were 17-12 at this point last year with a home loss to an even worse Wake Forest (though maybe no losses to a team as bad as BC) and no top 25 victories. we'll need to actually win the next two and not just have our players assume that we'll win by showing up, though, and get at least 1 quality win in the ACCT

after a quick look at last year's schedule and Real Time RPI:

not including the ACCT, last year's three worst RPI losses were Wake (#115), Miami (#110) & Central (#99) and three best wins were Pitt (#39), Tennessee (#42) & FSU (#54).

this year's three worst RPI losses have been BC (#175), Wake (#131) & Clemson (#84) and three best wins have been Duke (#5), Carolina (#17) & Louisville (#19).

do our better wins outweigh worse losses this year? I think so, but I dunno what the selection committee thinks. I'd think we're at least in the same position we were last year at this point

also I didn't realize Wake's RPI was better last year than this, but maybe theirs will go up a little depending on how they do in the last few games.

Our resume right now is better than our end of year resume was last year.

However, that doesn't mean the bubble last year will be the same as the bubble this year. Remember we were the last team in - if Gonzaga loses in the WCC Tournament or someone like Indiana State wins the MVC...that could be the difference.

Still pretty solid according to dance card. I was confused by the RPI rank of 31, but they still use the old RPI formula. Dance card is 108/110 in the last 3 years for at large bids. I'm pretty sure they missed on us last year.
