But my friends have all liked each other so far, I want them to get to know each other /:

I just feel really bad for throwing her into a situation of "hey here have some new friends oh and they're already trying to pursue you good luck choosing"

When I say they're infatuated and she's happy but confused and doesn't know what to do, I'm not making any assumptions, just reporting what's already been said. She is -already in- that situation, so I'm just trying to get everyone to calm the fuck down.

Also, while this is all new, it wasn't a "meet them briefly then all of this goes down" sort of thing. We were at their apartment for a good 5 hours after seeing a show that one of them was in together, so they've had a little bit of time to get to know each other and hang out. Still, they need to chill. They're all just really excitable people...

Just saw a new one that had pictures of puppies and kittens and then captions like "she was left to die scared, cold, and alone."

Also, $18 per month to save a puppy, but you can feed an ethiopian family for $15/month. :-/

;_; I'm so glad I don't have cable/don't watch tv anymore...

Also, that's probably because they don't have to pay Sarah McLachlan to make commercials for Ethiopian families.

Doublepostdon'tcare

They're each asking her to hang out separately (actually, each within a few minutes of each other). That poor girl.
And they each know that the other is trying to pursue her.

Sounds like they're all socially awkward and don't know how to handle relationships of any sort.

There's that, too.

I should say that I'm extra apathetic/forgetful about birthdays, anniversaries, etc. because my family never really gave a shit about that sort of thing.

That is brilliant

I was scrolling through the updated list of songs from the bar where I do karaoke with friends sometimes, and I noticed that they have "Alice's Restaurant". I'm really curious as to where he cuts it off (Stairway to Heaven is only about 3 minutes, I think)...

Nah. We celebrated my birthday when I was very young (though I didn't really have parties), but aside from family dinners on Christmas and Thanksgiving, no one paid much attention to "special" days. Basically, I was taught that you should show people how much you care every day, instead of making a big deal on what is ostensibly an arbitrary date during the year.

Example: I don't usually get my mom a Mother's Day gift, but I do send her flowers a couple times a year for no reason in particular other than that I love her.

Worked in the dishpit at a 350 person catering event today

So tired. So stinky.

I think I've hugged my dad maybe three times in my life. High school graduation, college graduation and my wedding.

I'm not suggesting one family dynamic is better than another, but it's interesting to hear/see the different ways people get on with their families.

I had a roommate in college get angry with me for not giving her enough attention(I guess?) and during a screaming fight she told me "you don't care about anyone except for your family!!!" I was confused because that didn't seem like a terrible thing. And for the record, I did/do care about several others outside of the fam.

^Context?

What is it with guys and wanting to pick girls up when hugging them?

I mean, I like guys that can give good hugs, and one things that I love about pretty much all of my friends is the need to hug before saying goodbye, but a compliment or comment on the quality of a hug is NOT an invitation to give me a hug and try to pick me up, especially if you probably can't. Also, I'm going to flail in terror and possibly knee you in the balls as soon as I realize that you're trying.
This doesn't happen too terribly often, but I really don't like it >_<

I like being picked up when my SO does it, but I'd be a little weirded out if a friend did that.

Quote was about parents pulling their kids out of Boy Scouts because they voted to allow gay kids.

I thought they voted to allow local chapters to make their own choice on the issue? I really don't know though. Don't care either. Like I've said before, can't believe people are expending so much time and energy and heartache over something that should be a nonissue.

What in the actual fuck

But yeah, I suppose if an SO did it would be okay, as long as I knew that they could, but a guy two nights ago tried to pick me up after giving me a hug and I kind of freaked out X( He's cute as hell, but while he seemed fit/toned, I wouldn't say buff.
He gives good hugs though, so that's cool.

Guys, opinions?

I've never had that problem because I'm so much fatter than my SOs. I don't want them to get hurt in the name of chivalry or romance. Or whatever.

I am not a small woman. I am the antithesis of a small woman. That's why I made the "you probably can't" comment. Hence why I hate being picked up/when people try to pick me up.
This guy was considerably smaller than me, so in my mind, by squirming and escaping (okay that sounds weird whatever) I saved us both the embarrassment, I guess?

But it might rain, so you may want to reconsider your plans.
