Got to admit that the New England Port towns are breathtaking in the summer. Would be a great week-long getaway.

We are driving from the north side of Atlanta to Fayetteville on Saturday, leaving early morning. Google maps says to take 1-20, but that route is 50 miles longer than taking 85. However projected drive time is 10 minutes less despite the added distance. Anyone have any guesses on which route is actually better? We're talking like 6-7 a.m. departure time. 6/11/2013 1:09:24 PM |

i thought by the age of 21 you'd have seen the gyno more than twice. am i the only one who sees a doctor regularly just to check in? 6/11/2013 2:03:32 PM |

Back in my day you had to go yearly, now I think its every 2 years. I use to go regularly to get my BC prescription renewed. Got the mirena now, so probably won't go back for 5 years.
J/K, I'll go back when I have health insurance again. 6/11/2013 2:51:25 PM |

I've gone every year since I was 17 including monthly exams while pregnant which include a vaginal exam every visit. Then there's weekly ones in the last 4 weeks. Usually i'm not bothered by it or the conversation during especially since i really like my doctor, but I haven't been since I had miscarriage this past fall. I was dreading having to talk about it.

Er, three times, I guess? First time when I was 18, then 19, then 20.

I personally hate it when the doc buries his index finger three knuckles deep in my ass. Granted, it's only happened twice but I can see it happening a lot more now that I'm 42. 6/11/2013 7:38:42 PM |

So, I'm channel surfing & get to the ESPN block of stations. See that the SVP show is on, so I put it on that station
3 minutes of commercials, then 5 minutes of sportscenter "sports news" then 3 more minutes of commercials.....and then SVP isn't even on, they have some other sportscenter hack in his place

And using peanut butter is a good way to make dogs eat stuff they wouldn't normally eat. Works on humans too

I just found out that a very special lady left to meet the lord this morning. My grandmother passed away. She was a very special lady that will be missed by a lot of people.
She was born in 1912 and was the first person to live on her street in our home town and the oldest surviving member of our church.
Even though she was over 100 years old, her health just recently went downhill. She never really had any health problems until her late, late 90s. She couldn’t hear very well but she never lost her memories and her mind stayed intact.
She had never driven a car and didn’t get central heat & air put into her house until about 8 years ago ... just so "you children" would visit in the summer time. Growing up, she had no AC & would just open the window and stick a fan in it. She was comfortable and would always talk about how it wasn’t healthy on the body to be under the AC all the time. It was brutal on us but she never batted an eye. She was very resilient.
She made the best food and her homemade biscuits were insanely delicious. Matter of fact, it is estimated that she made over 850,000 biscuits in her lifetime. Forget bo time ... it was granny time breakfast, lunch and dinner. All of her vegetables came from her own garden. Her and granddaddy would grow corn, lettuce, cabbage, potatoes, beans, peas, tomatoes, cucumbers, okra and probably some other things that I am forgetting.
She would tell the best stories about growing up in simpler times with her 12 brothers and sisters. She loved to talk about how her father and grandfather were the best fiddle players in town and how they served as the town’s primary source of entertainment. She would glow when talking about the barn dances where she met my granddad, Merlin, and what it was like to court back in the 20s. Those were the cutest stories ever.
Just think for a second what it would be like to live to be over one hundred years old.
She lived through an exciting century. She was 6 years old when the First World War ended and 27 when the second one began. She could talk about the great depression, the invention of the TV, putting a man on the moon and what it was like to see her first horseless carriage … since they didn’t call them cars back then. I could go on and on and on …
There are not enough words that truly explain how incredible this lady was. She touched a lot of souls and she will live on in the hearts of many. Even though I am unbelievably sad, I am happy to know that my granny is finally able to see granddaddy again.
I love you and will miss you terribly. 6/12/2013 8:00:18 PM |
