Christ man, do you also play with one hand tied behind your back and low batteries in your mouse?
As for the Reincarnation, I thought that was for soulstone res where shamans who used it would STILL have res sickness? Oh who am I kidding. Just rename "Shaman" to "Jesus."

Nothing's bugged, but you can only get soulshards from PvE. This means that in any sort of extended PvP battle, the warlock becomes useless when he runs out of shards with no means of replacing them. 3/8/2005 10:39:32 AM |

Blizzard is finally making up for the great mage nerfs of closed beta. They essentially gave us everything we wanted. Lvl 60 water (thank you jesu...errr shaman, I would have been perfectly happy if this is all they had done), +sta on our Magister's Set (which I have 6/8 pieces ) , a new shield that gives us 30% mana regen in combat and magic resistances (should make us king of the cloth casters in PVP) , and they are fixing the bugs with Arcane Missles and Blink. Saddly they are more or less destroying my most favorite item in the game : http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?i=8525 . I guess they figured having an easily attainable quest item better than having an epic staff a little bit unbalanced. Ah well, was cool while it lasted. All in all, an absolutely awesome patch for mages. Hell, they even made it easier for us chase down people. GG Blizz 3/8/2005 12:16:55 PM |

There was a bug where if a Shaman had both a Soul Stone and an Ankh, the Ankh would take precidence over the stone, and a Shaman could only resurrect with rez sickness.

Fear has diminishing returns. You may get two off, but the higher the level the more likely they are to break out of it. A combination of Seduce fear may buy you minute, but not when you are dotting.
Speaking of Dots, they won't kill anyone before they kill you.
Ganking doesn't count as "being able to kill someone up to 4 lvls higher." I've nuked plenty of lvl 55+ kids that had 1% health left.

its a bad day for the servers.
and santa, sry all of my friends play alliance. luckily if you play on a pve server (which i dont) warlocks are still pretty good.
personally i was gonna be a tauren shaman, and now that i've played the game a bit im kinda sad i didnt heh.
if playing eq has taught me anything its that you gotta hold out. rogues were one of the shittiest classes and got insane dmg boosts. same for shadowknights, one of the natoriously useless classes on release. rangers werent so lucky until long after i quit.
either way im fine for now because pvp blows right now anyway so who cares if i suck at it. once battlegrounds comes out i might actually care if i have problems in pvp. 3/8/2005 9:14:40 PM |

The thing that makes warlock DOTS seem so shitty is their bullshit "increase damage over time" effect coupled with a long duration.
15 secs? I'd more or less be dead that way if I were affliction in pvp thanks to the ever nerfing of Fear.
I also think Death Coil is entirely worthless right now. It won't keep you alive, but it won't do enough damage to kill anything that wasn't going to die anyway. Couple that with a 10 min cooldown, and its almost entirely worthless.
All I want is a reduced turn-around between pvp battles or a way for Warlock's to get the fuck out of Dodge fast. 3/9/2005 10:12:32 AM |

Shaggy All American 17820 Posts user info edit post |
we're loosing the few unique pets we have. So basically you can tame 1 of 4 pets. The only differences are cosmetic
also, due to a bug we were balanced around, we get a "bug fix" that results in a loss of DPS.
i think the reasoning might have already been posted here and its been posted in about 50 places on the wow forums. 3/11/2005 9:29:34 AM |

I botted from upper 40s to halfway through 59, and it was awesome. It wasn't ALL botting, but a fair bit was. Now I'm 60 and I can concentrate on getting the equipment I need to be a beast in pvp, which is what this game is about to me. Battlegrounds will be nice, hopefully; I'm not too worried about end game pvp sucking in the long run.
"If you want pvp go play counter-strike" some say, but I guess I like being able to judge skill by more than being able to control recoil or listen closely for footsteps. I look forward to 5v5 fights like the 8v8 in daoc if anyone knows about that.
i'm shaman btw, we get to rez ourselves and walk on water. jesus comment is correct

At 60, Rogues have the highest sustained DPS against a single target. Hunters and Mages would be second, with talent spec deciding which is highest. After that, it's a toss up between shadow spec'd priests and shamans. As far as shamans, I really dont think they are that overpowered anymore, things really even out at 60. I'm glad Blizzard isn't giving into crys for shaman nerfs, they are a very well balanced class, no need to screw them up or change much of anything on them. Yeah, 1v1 duels, they are a tough class because they are so versatile and have an answer for just about every class, but that's simply the "jack of all trades" design of the class. I've seen shadow priests, fire spec'd mages, druids, and warriors (yes warriors) all beat them with relative ease. Speaking of warriors, I have a whole new respect for warriors after watching one from my guild duel the other day. He owned every shaman that fought him, every rogue, and was better than 75% against all other classes. The trick seems to be switching stances depending on the situation, staying in one stance the whole fight is the fatal mistake most warriors seem to make. But yeah, until you reach 60, it's pretty much pointless to discuss class balance because it's a whole new ballgame once you reach the end game. 3/11/2005 5:37:03 PM |
Stein All American 19842 Posts user info edit post |
Mage DPS: Entirely too dependent on the words "Resist" not showing up.
I think Shadow-spec Priest DPS is overrated. The biggest thing Priests have going for them is just how long they can survive in most situations. 3/11/2005 6:01:27 PM |
Shrike All American 9594 Posts user info edit post |
Again, at 60, how often am I fighting things 3+ lvls above me (where resists start to become an issue)? I've done everything but Molten Core and Onyxia and the only time when resists become an issue is against certain mobs which have an innate resistance to magic. That's where warlocks come in with their Curse of Elements and Curse of Shadows. I dont think it's unreasonable to assume a certain lvl of team work between classes in end game PVE. In PVP, resists are about as much of an issue as melee attacks and special abilities missing. And shadow spec priest DPS isn't overrated at all. I helped a lvl 59 priest grind out the last bit of xp he needed for 60 the other day, and I'll be damned if he wasn't killing things just as fast as I was. The difference is they have to use a lot more mana than I do to reach that dps lvl. 3/11/2005 6:25:14 PM |
