Quote : | "Kring Spills Spoilers for "Heroes" http://blog.wired.com/tableofmalcontents/2007/01/kring_spills_sp.html
Heroes' Tim Kring, creator of comic bookish TV megahit Heroes, is not known for his knowledge of comic books -- nor for his deft wit. In fact, all he's really known for is being lucky enough to helm Heroes, which was recently picked up for a second season. So I guess that's why he's showing off the one thing he does know in an interview with SciFi Wire, where he's leaked a couple major plot points for the remaining episodes of the season (and maybe for season two as well):" |
Quote : | "Heroes Will End In Cliffhanger http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?category=0&id=39818
Tim Kring, creator of NBC's hit SF series Heroes, told SCI FI Wire that the show's first season will end in a cliffhanger that tees up season two, which was recently given a green light. Kring, speaking in an interview at the recent Television Critics Association winter press tour, added that the first season will resolve the current apocalyptic story arc, in which Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) foresees a nuclear detonation in New York.
"Yes, absolutely," Kring said. "That will be resolved in the first season." As for the cliffhanger? "It's not necessarily a cliffhanger in terms of what has been set up so far storywise," he added. "It's more of a cliffhanger as to the welfare and well-being of several of our characters. ... Obviously it plays into where we kick off at the [beginning] of season two."
Kring also had a few spoilers to offer about the balance of season one, which is currently airing. For one thing, don't expect the villainous Sylar (Zachary Quinto) to go away. "I love Zach Quinto, and I love what he's doing for the show," Kring said. "And the truth is I would like to continue and have him in the second season." There's a reason he's being kept alive by his mysterious captors, he added: "They really want something from him. The organization that Jack Coleman's character [H.R.G.] works for is on some sort of obvious research-oriented, as we call it, tag-and-release program. So there are things that they are gleaning by getting each one of these people. And remember, he is a character who seems to be exhibiting more than one power, which is intriguing to them as to how and why."
As for the rumors that one or more of the main characters will not make it to the end of the season, is that a guarantee? "No, I can't say that," Kring said coyly. Heroes airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT." |
Quote : | "Really? Cause I think Sylar is a really boring plot point. He's just yet another serial killer with five o'clock shadow as far as I'm concerned. I liked him a lot more when he was a geek who fixed antique watches for a living. I'm much more interested in the "exploding annoying guy" plot, which Kring says will be resolved at the end of the season. And no, that doesn't mean we'll get rid of Peter the annoying guy. Apparently some people really like him, despite the slack mouth acting and emo haircut. Oh well." |

I think the Micah-Nikki-DL story has overall been sucky so far - but not hopeless. Example: the family squabbling (i.e., DL having trouble cause he can't make a lunch for Micah right) is really weak. But, it looks like Nikki is finally on the path to go somewhere as a hero. I'm going to guess they will do an Incredible Hulk on her and her two personalities will merge so she will strike a balance between being whiny and ruthless, yet have super strength. They've basically set this up with the intro of the psychologist.
What would be neat: If Nikki's multiple personality disorder "ability" were fleshed out such that she could incorporate personalities of individuals who suffered passionate deaths, with each bringing some enhanced supernatural ability. She could incorporate new "people" regularly, melding them into a single amalgamated personality. Might be kinda late to go in this direction though... 1/31/2007 10:51:30 PM |

So it's looking like Mr. Bennett doesn't have the power to block out abilities, since it showed Syler piledriving his ass into the wall in the previews. And from how Syler makes it over to his family's house. But I guess there's always a possibility Syler discovered some way to bypass his shit. Either way, I hope Syler kills their little dog. 2/1/2007 12:24:22 AM |

Not neccessarily, because we really did not know if Bennett had say a special device that blocked their powers and a bit of a coincedence the Haitain was nearby. The only real power we seen from the Haitain is the mind sweep that he does. He just happens to be around when the Cop and others try to use their powers.
But now it looks like he can block the powers now that Bennet looks like he was thrown around like a rag doll.2/1/2007 11:52:50 AM |

it's the haitian that has the power. he used it against sylar to capture him initially (but didn't block out Eden's).
Either the haitian has the power OR he had the power-blocking device that could selectively target someone without being pointed/directed at the individual. 2/1/2007 1:19:30 PM |

it looked to me that, in that scene, Eden sort of puts Syler into a docile daze with her powers of persuasion, while the haitian CLEANS HIM OUT. which would effectively disable his powers since he couldn't remember what he was doing for the last few weeks.2/1/2007 3:03:12 PM |

the Hatian guy has the memory wipe power for sure. and as yet no hero has two powers (Niki has the super-strength but the 2 people thing isn't a power, she's just fucked up). I really don't like the whole idea that the power blocking is comming from a machine, so I'm guessing that someone whom either we haven't met, or just hasn't used a power on-screen will have the blocking power 2/1/2007 3:37:11 PM |

It can't be proved either way that Niki does/doesn't have a power that involves having 2 personalities. If I had to guess I would say that she and her sister both had powers and somehow they are now in the same body...seems like the type of thing the writers would try to pull off, as opposed to the oh, she is just a schitzo(no clue how to spell it) explanation. 2/1/2007 4:40:21 PM |

if the haitian doesn't have 2 powers, they sure are going out of there way to make it look like he does. i mean when parkman collapsed in the bar, it made a point to zoom in on the haitian staring at him with bennett nowhere in sight.
i still think that he only can block mental powers (telepathy, telekinesis) because he's mastered his own power so well. that explains why nathan was able to fly off like he did 2/1/2007 4:41:16 PM |

2^ We did get to see Niki use the power (we she snapped the gaurds baton), which I think is important, before then only Jessica used the power. Your right, making Niki just nuts doesn't really seem like the move they'd, so Jessica must have had a power a-kin to mind transfer 2/1/2007 4:51:34 PM |

oh, one more thing about the Haitian that i may have missed (i missed most of the first half of the series so far). what's with the windchimes? When claire (and the policeman) put them up - do they meet the Haitian in their mind? When claire is talking to him near the old oil plant, is that really the Haitian talking to her in her head, and he was summoned by the windchimes?
on yeah, and Mr. Bennett is going to go ape shit on someone. He saw Claire's wind chimes last week outside her window, so he knows the Haitian has been talking to her now. 2/1/2007 5:01:27 PM |

Quote : | "NBC's "Heroes" triumphs over Fox's "24" http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070131/tv_nm/ratings_dc_1
NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - Monday's ratings battle between Jack Bauer's "24" and NBC's "Heroes" ended much as the first, with another win for the Peacock.
"Heroes" beat "24" head to head, but "24," along with a stronger performance from "Prison Break," helped Fox to eke out a win for the night in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary data released Tuesday by Nielsen Media Research. Meanwhile, "Deal or No Deal" prevailed at 8 p.m. and a repeat "CSI: Miami" outweighed new episodes of "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" and "What About Brian."
It was another win for NBC's "Heroes" (13.6 million, 6.1 rating/14 share in adults 18-49), although it was down 8 percent in the demo compared with last week's return to the air. "Heroes" was still the dominant player, with a 13 percent margin in the demo over "24" (15.3 million, 5.4/12) and 33 percent above "24" in adults 18-34.
But "24" was still up slightly compared with last week in viewership and steady in the demo.
The 8 p.m. hour went solidly to "Deal or No Deal" (16.9 million, 4.8/12), which beat "Prison Break" (9.9 million, 4.1/11) plus repeats on ABC and CBS. "Prison Break" was up 14 percent compared with its average in the demo and a similar amount in viewership.
Yet CBS, whose schedule was all repeats, came back at 10 p.m. to win with "CSI: Miami" (13.4 million, 3.9/10). It beat "Studio 60" (6.9 million, 3.0/8), which couldn't capitalize on NBC's big audiences between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. "What About Brian" averaged 5.7 million, 2.7/8).
Nightly averages: ABC (7.5 million, 3.1/8); CBS (10.6 million, 3.2/8); Fox (12 million, 4.8/12); NBC (12.5 million, 4.6/11); and The CW (2.4 million, 1.1/3)." |

I assumed that Jessica took over he body for a split second and used the strength. But heres a thought, maybe it was her sister that had the "going somewhere else with your soul" ability. Which might explain why she was taking all the beatings from daddy as a child. I just dont see Jessica having super strength and then dying from a beating....bc Niki/Jessica can sure dish them out now.
No clue about the windchimes, tho Bennet did get a suspicious look in his eye when he saw them. Interesting theory with the visiting Claire's mind and not physically under the wells. No clue what you are referring to with the policeman and chimes. 2/1/2007 6:19:36 PM |

soon after (or maybe immediately after) the scene with Claire and the wind chimes, it went to the cop and his wife talking in the back yard. On the first shot, there were wind chimes, albiet a very different style, in the foreground. but they didn't show him put them up or make any explicit reference to them. let me get you caught up, the wind chimes are there to keep syler away, the hatian sell them to special people for a 10% discount. bennet is mad cause he sells them too but clair didnt buy it from him. the hatian meets up with claire to sell her grease to keep the chimes smooth, thats how he makes the money. 2/1/2007 7:48:19 PM |

yeah, i didn't start watching till about episode 8, and i've only caught 1 or 2 of those in reruns. I should just go read up on wikipedia or download them....
anyway - i may be reading too much in to this, or it may be a red herring (or hell, it may just be an artistic photography), but this is the wind chimes thing. I went all ghetto and took pictures of my TV on DVR playback...
this is Claire hanging her windchimes in her room
this shot fades into a shot of the cop's backyard, and briefly both windchimes are visible, and the cop's wind chimes basically take the place of claire's
then it fades all the way to the cop and the wind chimes lose focus.
so, again, it may just be a nice way to frame a shot, but i think they're there for a reason. 2/1/2007 8:13:11 PM |
