It'd be worth the $100 (or whatever it may come to be) hit in depreciation to not have to live w/out an iphone for two months IMO. Have you tried using another phone after using an iphone? It's... hard.

This is probably a stupid question, but if you have a 3G phone and you're not in a 3G supported area, it will automatically downgrade to Edge, no?

I think I'm going to keep my first gen. 3g isnt exactly a "need" to me just yet as I only use Edge when I'm in a bind, GPS is also trivial to me.

Hell if TWW didnt have ads, it would be nearly as fast as broadband over Edge - if only there was a way to block them on the iPhone, heh.

Processing power is mostly what I'm looking forard to. I hope that this would result in a Browser that is more responsive, stable, and ready for Adobe Flash. Supposedly, the current processor is "underclocked" (412Mhz on a Samsung ARM SoC 620MHz 1176)- maybe this will change with the SDK as they've already boosted it from 400 (in 1.1.1) to 412 (in 1.1.2)? Battery life could be of concern here but I think 500Mhz wouldnt be out of the question as it may need to reach that speed to equal the 2nd gen for compatibility reasons.

Who knows what'll happen though.

just curious but i remember reading in here a long time ago that the iphone was a deal breaker because it had no GPS and 3G. Now that they've added those two key features I'm still seeing bitching that its not enough? Whats the deal breaker now?

(and i do realize that its coming from some iphone owners already so upgrading isn't an important issue...i'm mainly questioning those without iphones)

with gps & 3g I would have paid $400. at $200 I'm certainly in for one. Without GPS I'll probably still buy one, but won't be as happy about it.

I used ziphone and it worked like a charm. I've been meaning to try out that ipwned thing, but I don't feel like reinstalling all my apps. I guess when the legit version of 2.0 hits I will give it a shot.

I've been meaning to ask this, does anyone know if there's an easy way to resize the application partition? I googled and didn't really find a definitive answer one way or the other.

I swear I once saw an app that let you do that, but I can't find it now for the life of me.

it doesn't re size the partitions, but it will redirect the applications fodler to the main memory giving you tons more space.

but then i gotta go a month without internet/google maps in my pocket well i could always use the blackberry 8830 for that stuff but the usability on that thing sucks compared to the iphone.

i just got a SE z750 from at&t, it cost 1 cent from amazon (with the contract of course) and had a $100 rebate. has 3G and built in GPS, although i've heard at&t cripples it with their shitty firmware. i haven't unlocked it yet. i'm not saying its an iphone by any means though.

i bought the mogul last year in july for $288 - it had 3g the whole time but it didn't the GPS piece didn't get turned on until this past december when new firmware was released - you can get any of HTC's phones for around 200 or less though various deals - the tilt, touch, mogul
