actually it is pretty fun once you get used to it... makes for some intense riding/leading shots

favorite moment so far is leading another atv while riding and sending them so far off of sand trap they flew over the objective point and straight up died when they landed

me and some friends were playing rocket race last night, it's damn fun... it's like a mixture of crazy king, VIP, multi team and rockets. there are 4 teams (2 players each), and one person on each team is a VIP. there are numerous destinations that spawn all over the map, one at a time. the VIP on each team has to reach the destination to score a point for their team. 10 points wins. however, when a VIP reaches a destination, the destination disappears and respawns somewhere else on the map. everyone has unlimited rockets and the only way to die is to be meleed in the back. mongooses are default (and only) vehicle on the map. VIPs can't drive the mongoose. so it really ends up like Mario Kart, one person driving the mongoose, the VIP on the back shooting everyone in sight.

it's a blast.

I don't know what it is, but I seem to really like shotty snipers...it has actually made me a lot better at sniping though...kinda fun

^ and hey...ncsu...is there any cheat to oneshot killing w/ the shotgun at a farther range? I'm good w/ the shotty and I kept running into this one guy and he kept killing me...I would even rush him when he was low in health and he would still somehow kill me...I don't get it...I would even shoot early as hell, and he would still kill me...and it wasn't just a really fast "shoot+melee"...it was something else that was really pissing me off

^^it's all about the host, and if it was that bad for ya, im guessing he was host for sure and your connection with him was probably not the best (even if you usually have a great connection, some peoples host to other connections is just crappy). Host matters a great deal in halo 3, his shot gun is more accurate, thus making it more powerful at any range equal to the same range you are at, and he has essentially the first move when it comes to 1 on 1 encounters.

my friend and i were playing team doubles earlier on narrows, and the other team would get up by one or two kills and then disappear - we couldn't find them for the rest of the game, so they ended up winning like 4-3 or something. so we went back and watched the video and they were jumping off of the bridge where invisibility/overshield is down below and hiding in some nook down there...




and then later on today we were playing on the pit and the same thing happened, and when we went back and watched the video, the dudes were hiding under some ramp on one side of the map...





has anyone else ever seen this before? it would suck if people started figuring out stuff like this on all the maps. they also need to fix the fact that if the other team starts jumping off the edge in doubles, it doesn't count against them.

I've sniped from the lower part of Narrows before, it's not really an exploit, just a very very low spot to stand... never seen the inside-the-pit-ramp thing before, though. Not sure if it's an actual glitch or if he just crouch-jumped into the hole towards the upper part of the ramp (in which case it really wouldn't be an exploit either). I'll have to test that next time I play Pit.

Edit: Actually looking at the Narrows picture, I've never been where he is. Not sure how one gets there, either. Probably still not an exploit, though. If you see it again, just get in line-of-sight with it and rocket them.

we went back and were able to get to both places on the pit and narrows. the one in the pit you just have to walk up to the hole in the ramp and alternate crouching/standing while pushing forward on the stick, you eventually will squeeze through.

the narrows one you have to jump off where invisibility spawns on the lower part of the bridge and hit the big concrete looking section, then from there you only have a few seconds to get in the hole before you get killed by the guardians.

they're not glitches, anyone can do them fairly easy. it just sucks that people are already figuring out unfair ways to win matches. it will be fun though if we play people who do this stuff again to let them think we don't know where they are and then right at the last second slay them both with a rocket.

It's real, but it's absurdly hard and is semi-reliant upon luck... So don't expect it to happen with any sort of frequency or consistency like the B-X-R and double-/quad-shotting did in Halo 2.

I still haven't gotten it to work on someone in real combat so far... just someone serving as a standing-still target dummy of sorts, and even then I could barely get it to work.

what pisses me off about that is you'll get some people in rocket race who don't try to get to the destinations, and ONLY try to melee and get kills. it's fine to get into a few fights (i do), and it's expected, but some people sit and camp in hot spots, fire rockets to knock you off the goose, just so they can get into a melee fight. what happens is seemingly endless faceoffs where you dance around each other... you can't run away, turn your back, or else you get killed. it blows.

i agree, its a game better played with friends because some douchebags will just sit and camp and ruin the game

it should be fun, but it ends up being like a never ending loop of a red or spiked purple shell hitting you over and over again in mario kart

B-Y-Y-B is a lame double-melee, it's barely faster than just normally meleeing/shooting after the first melee. So I think you can guess what the button combo is. It's got MUCH different timing than the BXB/BXR, though.

has anybody seen the monkeys in the campaign yet? play the first level at rally point alpha, and jump up the stone arch on the left when you're still on the high road before the outpost. if you climb up that arch, youll see 2 monkeys sitting on the left with guns.
