"Ok guys, here's a really good deal that is going FAST....

If you like shredded wheat, go to Harris Teeter. They have the little blinky coupon machine for $1 off all flavors of Kellogg's Shredded Wheat. Combine that with Harris Teeter's "buy 1 get one free" deal!

That's not all!!!! If you buy four boxes (getting another four free), you will get three coupons each for any brand/flavor of 1 gallon of milk..... AND a rebate form to send to Kellogg's to get a $10 cash card.

this post is golden. you can thank me later.

P.S. My cashier tried to horde my coupons for free milk but I ratted her out to customer service. I hope her ass gets fired.

"

there's actually a store that has these blinkies left? are you using 2 blinkies on 2 boxes, even though they are BOGO?

sam posted HT coupon policy several pages back, probably two or three months ago. now that they ring up half price, it's easier to get away with. but still i've noticed some items are BOGO and actually ring up full price until the cashier hits TOTAL, and then the price of one item comes off.

i'm guessing that unless the cashier actually rejects 2 coupons for 2 BOGO items, then you won't have a problem doing it. but i'm afraid of getting called out for it

that being said, which HT still has the blinkies left?!?!? cuz i want in on this deal.

HT has rung up BOGO items half off for a very long time. Like, before I even came to college. At least at the CV one.

When I hit HT in the afternoon yesterday, they were out. When I went at 130am, they'd refilled it.

^nah, i'm pretty sure you're wrong about that. HT hasn't been ringing up BOGO items half-price for that long. i worked at HT until 2003 and it wasn't like that back then. half-price BOGO items has been in effect less than a year.

I used .75/1 coupons for chex that don't expire until 4/18. I also bought some frosted mini wheats that were bogo and used the blinkie coupons and the cashier accepted them they come out to .70 a box its a great deal. I just wish they were post and not kellogs, HT is doing a deal where if you get five boxes of a post cereal you get five dollars off of your next order.

^^ I've been couponing and shopping at HT for a long while even through high school and that includes 2003. Ambrosia is right, they have had half-price BOGOs for as long as I can remember.

I'm not going to argue with you. Next time you're at HT and you see a cashier or CSR with a "Serving You Since 2001" on their name tag, ask them how long they've been offering the BOGO items at half-price. It's not any earlier than 2007.

went to HT on Leesville last night...they were out of a lot of the free stuff

This was more of a stocking up on good deals trip so my OOP was more than usual during triples

BC: $45.48
AC: 17.94

Savings of 72%

Vanity Fair beverage napkins (small package) are on sale for 2/$3 and there was a $0.50 coupon that came out a while ago...free napkins!!!!!!

Coffeemate liquid is $1.67 w/ the $.50 coupon tripled, it's $0.16 a bottle! Good Life cat food is $4.99 and each bag @ the Leesville HT had a $2 off peelie! Great deal! Stocked up on that for my cats. Ragu pasta sauce is BOGO free, 2 for $2.69. Used $.75/2 coupon and got 2 bottles of pasta sauce for $.44!

I take this to mean that if i have a coupon for 75c off of shredded cheese, and I buy 3 packs of shredded cheese, I should receive $6.75 off in all, right?

The other thing that's difficult is that with a lot of coupons, it's really hard to tell from the receipt if it's actually counting the coupon multiple times for multiple items (assuming i'm getting 3 or less), but i suspect that it's not.

Anyone else not getting triple off for 2 or 3 items?

and if so, how do you fight it since the receipt just says "Grocery coupon" and they take the coupons from you and you have no way of proving it after the fact?

^If you have 3 $.75 off coupons then yes you will get $2.25 off each pack of cheese

^I always write down what coupons I'm using, what I should get getting off (if the coupon is more than the item) and how many of each coupon I'm using

I've never had a problem with them not doubling or tripling my coupons. But I keep a solid record of what coupons I use.

Keep a mental (or written) inventory: what you bought, how many, how much, and same for the coupons. You should have a rough estimate of the total taken off, and what you'll pay.

I don't write them down, but it might be beneficial for you to write down (3) $0.75 (cheese); (2) $0.50 (crackers), (#) $0.xx (item). This gives you something to compare the manufacturer's coupon count on the receipt to. Then look and see that each one is doubled. I'm very good at remembering what something is supposed to cost, what coupon I had for the item, and what the cost after coupon should be, so I do this all mentally

As far as fighting it, HT is pretty customer service-oriented, and I'm pretty sure a manager can look through the coupons if you bring it to their attention immediately (i.e., your coupons are still together and near the surface). At SCO the other night, there was simply a bag they were tossing them all into, instead of the usual drawer. That + your bags should be enough to get things straightened out.

FYI:

Several area gas station has coupons that are .55 off of 2 powerade or powerade zero.....They are on sale this week at Harris teeter for 3 for 4 dollars.

If anybody wants to roll over for shave gel or has the toothpaste, my sister is collecting currently for her church. I went and got 5 colgates today for the cause. They usually get a lot of canned goods but lack toiletry items.

Harris Teeter on Creedmor is completely out of tons of stuff. I just got back and it is a zoo. I still got a few other things (lunch meat for husband buy one get two). Still saved ~90 with Vic/coupons and spent only 20 dollars =) <3 Triples <3

i've widdled about $100 ECBs down to $20 in the last two months because the deals have been so bad. seriously, does my post sound like anything other than sarcasm? wtf.

Actually, in this thread you have made comments about how much stuff you have accumulated so it was hard to see your post as sacastic, honestly.

You truly seem to enjoy couponing. It's not my business what you buy or how much but just from a fellow couponer to another - don't become one of those people.

And I just noticed you had asked me about some coupon from 3/8, which I didn't have any Sorry I couldn't help you out.

I enjoy couponing and have been getting lots of stuff for very little out of pocket at CVS and HT. I've been doing this since December and I've gotten way more than I ever thought I could. But I've also got way more than I'll ever use, and after giving stuff away to anyone who will take it, I'm still left with too much clutter in my house. I'll gladly give anyone in this thread my extra toothpaste, shampoo, shave gel, laundry detergent, Glade - come get it and it's yours, because I'm tired of the clutter. Which is why I've spent a lot of my ECBs lately, because I don't want to worry so much about rolling them on products I already have too much of.

But honestly, if I wanted to get one of those free shave gels next week, why couldn't I? Regardless of how many shave gels I have at my house, CVS offers free products (with a limit) to any customer - not just customers who are currently in need of the item. So it's rather silly of you to tell me not to become one of those people by getting shave gel when I don't need it, because if it's FAECB, who wouldn't get one?

Honestly, I will keep up to 2 years worth of everything around and a couple extra to put in gift baskets so 10 shave gels would not be excessive to me. BF and I both use it, maybe a can each every 3 months? That'd be 8 cans a year, although I don't think we use that much. I want to have at least 24 razor blades around as well. The deals are getting worse and shave gel is one of the things I am low on (only 2 or 3 unopened) so I'll be buying more and when I have enough to last a couple years of everything I'm going to quit for a while. Food I can't stockpile that much of, but it's easier to get good deals on that just buying on sale even if I give up using coupons.

you have to have one coupon per item, seemed like one coupon could apply to three items.

So you've never ever in your life bought something with a coupon that was free, or damn near free, simply because it was free - even if you had it at home and didn't really "need it" but knew it would keep so you figured, what the heck?

Besides, my posts weren't directed at you in the least, so quit getting all defensive about shit. I was simply trying to say that what I've done with HBA items is the same thing that nearly everyone else in this thread has done. Stock up because it doesn't go bad and will eventually get used. Don't judge me for getting a can of shave gel for free when I've got 10 cans of shave gel at home. It doesn't go bad, it will get used, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with taking advantage of a sale.

And now, I will quit beating the dead horse. I hope I've made my point.

normal people generally don't do this. If you do this on a regular basis, you have psychological problems. It's like those people who get a rush out of shoplifting. Same dysfunction, just different manifestation. You are broken.

I think everybody needs to stop fighting and get back to finding great deals!

I will admit that I have a stockpile of shampoo, razors, soap etc that I got free or nearly free. Whenever I have people over, I let them take whatever they want from my stockpile. Whenever I run out of something in the shower, its nice to be able to go to my shelf and get some shampoo that if I had to run out and get would have cost me $4.00 but since I matched the sale with a coupon, it only cost me $.25.

Everybody is always going to have their own opinion or idea to what they believe "hoarding" is. I'm just tired of people finger pointing at other people. That isn't what the thread is for. We need to post more deals and fight less.

Food Lion has milk on sale for $2.59, last day is today.

I went to go pick up some yesterday and they have a coupon tearoff pad nearby where you can take off another $1.00 if you buy a pack of Oreos with it. The coupon may have been 1.50, I can't remember now, but the Oreos were on sale too.

This thread is for posting deals - you're right - but the title does say grocery store coupon users and I think it's okay to continue this discussion..but to stay on topic, I will post a deal before I post my comment and perhaps everyone else can do the same.

So here's my deal: This month at WalGreen's you can get $10 work of Physician's Formula Make up and get a $10 rebate so enjoy free make up for April.

And now for my comment: It is not healthy to get so into couponing that you stop doing it to be thrifty and start doing it to be greedy. That's when you become one of the people who is so concerned with getting the deal, they stop rationalizing the need. They hide products, steal tearpads, and rush in at 7 am with shopping carts. If that is how you get your kicks, get them that way. I said it's not my business how much she buys or of what because she does seem to enjoy couponing but if you want to brag, make a thread about it. As was mentioned earlier, this thread is for posting the deals.

Quote :
"...there's absolutely nothing wrong with taking advantage of a sale."

Right. There's nothing wrong with taking advantage of a sale. We have all done that...but if you go back and re-read, you will see I said I was appalled at your bragging, not your thriftiness.

It's good stuff! I just got 5 bags of pictsweet frozen veggies (they have a few different types) for $4.40 or so. They're the microwaveable "steamfresh" kind I think. You can also get 5 frozen pizzas for ~$10.50 or so, but I forgot the brand. They're "fancy" pizzas and they're a decent buy for that price. I do not have a freezer that can hold that much food, so I just did the veggies.
