Your argument of quotes still doesn't make any headway. If you just quote part of a quote, that isn't altering it. It is further taking it out of context. I guess if you wanted to be super correct you could just put ellipses before and/or after the quote fragment to indicate that there is more to the quote ( unless you're writing in AP style ).

The thread title isn't "TWW Quotes Out of Context of the Thread in Which They Were Originally Posted"

If you walk up on a conversation in progress and hear, "...and it was a hard one," then you are hearing that out of context, since the whole quote was, "I took a test yesterday, and it was a hard one." Just because it's a fragment doesn't mean it isn't out of context.

I am very passionate about this apparently, haha.
