Burke's high school stats were a little inflated b/c of the level he played at.
I'm watching the UNC football preview and all I can do is laugh. Same old shit. "We are young" but they have like 18 starters coming back. Then it lauds them for having 18 starters return. Well so what if you have 18 starters returning if most of them suck anyways. "We were competitive in most of our games." So what Amato's teams were always competitive, but they didn't know how to win. You still lost. Your team didn't do the things it needed to win. A loss is still a loss. "We've got a tough schedule." WTF are you talking about Bitch Davis. Your in-conference schedule is a joke b/c you miss FSU, CU, & WF, plus the Coastal division is shit. Then your OOC schedule sucks. McNeese St. a D-IAA team patsy. UConn a Big East team that had a great year last year, but who knows if they were just a flash in the pan or not. Notre Dame sucks and I don't see them being more than a 6-6 team at best. @ Rutgers is your hardest game. Is Rutgers Stadium a tough environment, no. Is Rutgers a good team, well yeah they've been doing pretty well recently, but they are very beatable. They aren't like a SEC team where the talent is on a whole nother level than the rest of the conferences. 8/18/2008 7:33:20 PM |

I think burke went to louisville to get back home. I seriously doubt he has any delusion of getting playing time when they have SEVEN QBs. But either way, i think transferring was the right move for him to make. 8/19/2008 9:02:42 AM |

This article says that O'Brien offered to help both Beck and Burke if they decided to transfer. Beck has decided to stay at N.C. State and may opt to go through this season, graduate and then go to an NAIA school next year.
Around the conference Re'quan Boyette, Vincent Rey, Tielor Robinson and Michael Tauiliili have been named captains for the 2008 Duke football team. Also Jordan Steffy will start at quarterback for Maryland in the season opener against Delaware. 8/19/2008 12:06:57 PM |

I'll say Evans starts, has a decent first 2 games, plays like shit against clemson, Glennon gets to start against ECU, we never look back. Wilson gets used sparingly throughout the next 4 years to run a couple bootlegs and mop up type stuff. 8/20/2008 1:28:11 AM |

I was thinking TOB wants to use Glennon, but probably doesn't want to throw him out there in an SEC environment for his first game experience ever. It probably wouldn't go very well. And if Evans does decent then he'd keep playing for a little while. I don't know nearly as much about Wilson but I don't think he's going to be the QB.
For some reason the radio thinks he'll announce it tomorrow. 8/20/2008 1:36:42 AM |

At this rate we won't even send a QB out on the field because we don't want to reveal the starter. Maybe that's not such a bad thing. Just field two HBs instead.8/20/2008 9:05:24 AM |

TOB will announce our starting QB when he releases the depth chart for the SC game, like he has said all along. Of course, I think he listing something like Brown OR Eugene on the depth chart for starting running back last year, so I guess he could do that if he wants to buy more time. 8/20/2008 9:12:35 AM |

there was a late scrimmage last night
no stats have been released yet
TOB has a PC at 2 today, people are thinking if we get an announcement on the QB it'll be during that presser.
Edit: Rumors are that Evans played awful in the last two scrimmages. i mean horrible.
i think wilson starts, evans as #2, and the coaches hope and pray they can redshirt glennon. there's no reason to get 3 games into the season and then burn his redshirt.

^^I don't know if it was part of the last 2 scrimmages, but I saw something on WRAL last night that posted stats from some scrimmage they had. I assume it was the first, as they went out of their way to say they didn't have stats on the latest scrimmage.
Anyway, the point was that Evans had the best record of the three. He had fewer reps though. Glennon was a standout because he had 4 ints. The other guy, Wilson, had 2 ints. I don't think Evans had any in WRAL's reporting.
I found this while looking for the first scrimmage stats. I'll post it, in case it's interesting to anyone: http://www.thestate.com/gogamecocks/story/486421.html

Where are you hearing this? I'm not questioning it, just wondering.
I don't want Evans to perform horribly, but I'd rather see Wilson get the start. As much as I like Evans, I just can't get excited knowing he's going to be under center. Wilson's arm and play-making ability at least give me a tiny bit of hope for this season.8/20/2008 11:45:30 AM |

nice to see that TOB agrees.... however, it is a sad indication that he has little faith in our O-line's ability to protect our QB this year and thus this redshirt....
Maybe we will end up using Wilson more than Evans? Either way, we need a QB that can run for his life and still make throws....

^^^ Or maybe Glennon just isn't grasping the offense as TOB stated in his press conference. Let's not jump to conclusions. We have enough reasons to be pessimistic without creating our own.

I kind of knew Glennon would end up being redshirted way back when he did an interview and they asked him about players playing as true freshmen. He said that it is very hard for most incoming freshmen to see playing time in their first year simply b/c of the difference in speed from high school to college ball. I just hope us redshirting Glennon doesn't scare off Everett Proctor. 8/20/2008 3:22:40 PM |

I still think Beck is an episode of "getting it" away from being a very solid QB. I'm comfortable with him at 3rd string.
1st: Wilson 2nd: Evans 3rd: Beck
I'll take it.8/20/2008 4:27:49 PM |

fair enough if we had GOOD options. wilson is a baseball hybrid, and i fail to categorize Evans as a football player.
i'm ready to see a quarterback develop and take command of the team, and i dont see how that will happen when by starting evans/wilson we have another year of QB carousel. i was hoping this year would be the start of something good.
im getting impatient

I personally don't think that Glennon will make a huge difference on this team, once some well coached O-line is around him, I think we will be in better shape. Maybe even redshirt Proctor and in 2 years have a seasoned TOB offensive line and a 2 quarterback system. 8/20/2008 5:26:03 PM |

I know it's been said a million times, but its unfair to compare this situation to Rivers because Glennon did not spend the spring here. That means so much because you don't get your work out plan and playbook until you get here. So Glennon has only been able to absorb information since July 7th when he came for summer school, as opposed to Rivers who had since the previous January. 8/20/2008 5:31:52 PM |
