sure it can, and it probably will

Looking back at last week, I believe fully that we had a sucker rally.

Will it go below 12,000?

Consider this - in ~3 weeks funds will lock in their Q2 profits. If the market continues to sag, they will sell. That becomes a self-fulfilling downward spiral

June will be, imho, nasty

What I meant was, I don't think we'll see a bigger one day drop any time soon.

Respond to my real estate thread question.

I honestly won't be suprised if we see a significantly larger one-day drop in the next, say, three months.

Instability and uncertainty abound right now, I think when the right (wrong) set of circumstances line up over the summer a 5% drop seems very possible; a 1,000 point drop wouldn't shock me.

Well several stocks have dropped below the level I set to look at buying, too bad I have most of my cash sitting in stocks that are also down below my sell level haha, GTE is all that is saving my board from being total red again

I've heard this before too, but I'd think the dow would need to get to 12.8, maybe even 13 and then I can see a 4-600 point loss, but 1,000, that'd be something...something bad....But I don't expect to see new lows, as in 11.7 back in January(?)

It might be time to dump some of my VWO. It's performance over the past 8 months hasn't been very impressive.

I think the recession is starting to look worse but I am not convinced that equities are going down in a straight line. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw 13000 on our way to 11500.

Microsoft reportedly is no longer interested in buying Yahoo!

Supposedly, Yahoo! is maybe getting into some kind of partnership with Google.

Well despite most of my stocks deciding to suck lately at least I found one positive one. Picked up GTE at 5.90 on 5/28 and it hit my target sell of 7.05 today so finally got to at least take some profit. Now lets hope I dont see it shoot up higher, although I pretty much thought it would cap out at 7 right now.

I really don't think Google is interested in buying Yahoo...

I sold everything Monday and have been sitting...I've got a few stocks picked out, but I'm going to wait for the upswing.

it could possibly maybe happen eventually probably...

i've noted for a while that there's a lot of good blood between Google and Yahoo founders. Yahoo founders helped Google get their bearings in their early days

thursday before last. forgot to pout a stop on it.

was in meetings all week and didn't get to watch it.

note to self: be more careful and use stops; and if your day job is going to occupy all your time, don't make trades on volatile names.

From RBS via the UK Telegraph this morning:

Quote :
"
The Royal Bank of Scotland has advised clients to brace for a full-fledged crash in global stock and credit markets over the next three months as inflation paralyses the major central banks.

"A very nasty period is soon to be upon us - be prepared," said Bob Janjuah, the bank's credit strategist.

A report by the bank's research team warns that the S&P 500 index of Wall Street equities is likely to fall by more than 300 points to around 1050 by September as "all the chickens come home to roost" from the excesses of the global boom, with contagion spreading across Europe and emerging markets.

Such a slide on world bourses would amount to one of the worst bear markets over the last century.

Yeah well I also hear people everyday saying that oil is going back down to 100 dollars a barrel and we see how well that has worked out so far.

Yesterday would have been a good day for me to pull out of a few with some profits, unfortunately today they gave them all back mostly

^ I actually won't be suprised to see oil back under $100, even under $85, relatively soon - but as far as timing I think it could be anywhere from 4 months to 3 years, and it could peak anywhere from $150 to $250, so who knows.
