That brooch bouquet is GREAT! I can't wait to see yours, Joie. I'll keep an eye out for some additions.

I got a FREE bridal bustier and a throw away garter today from a girl on freecycle. It made my day.

Apparently Target does dollar spot wedding items occassionally (that's where the throw away garter came from) Anyone seen this at Target?

^^Yeah, it's actually fairly often that they'll have half the dollar section dedicated to either wedding or bachelorette type stuff.

ooooooh, idea! the prevent said impalement (if you were going to do a bouquet toss; which was a waste at mine and if I could go back I wouldn't do one), in many cases there could be a keep and toss bouquet. the keep bouquet is your brooch bouquet, and the toss bouquet could be one of the felt flower bouquets I posted on page 21

^ Aww lovely! where is that? I am not going to steal your location-promise!

We are about to leave to go down to Carolina Beach for the weekend to look at rehearsal dinner places, caterers, and the aquarium but I had to print out my wedding info and check TWW before leaving.

^well they're aren't bad or anything but sometimes they can be really awkward
and we've been to two weddings recently that did not have them and we didn't notice until like the next day, so we thought...what the hell

when cody gets back. im gonna take pics of my bouquets so far and post them.
the selection of brooches i have has been really, really nice. i've been real lucky.

i think im gonna keep my bouquet white, silver, and gold, while keeping the girls all colors.

i just texted them asking them for their favorite colors and got:
turquoise, pink, and yellow
and
green, yellow, and orange.

i may work around these colors for each girl....not sure yet

The Flamingo has been doing a lot of renovations.
You definitely need to get the newer rooms...the "go" rooms.
The old ones are shit holes.

^^ Yeah I freaking hate bouquet tosses. The last wedding I went to that bothered to have one it was so awkward (probably didn't help it was a dry wedding so we were too sober to want to participate ).

That's why we're doing the bouquet pull. Figure that will be something people will be more into.

^ this is wolfpackgrrr's post from a few pages back

Quote :
"Have any of you heard of this before? I've been to two weddings recently that has done this and it's awesome! It's kind of a combo of the bouquet toss and the Southern charm pull thing.

Basically, each flower in the bouquet has a ribbon tied to its stem. Also on this ribbon is a charm. Each charm has a different meaning. The flowers are arranged so the charms are hidden from view and the ribbons are flowing from the base of the bouquet.

When it comes time to do the bouquet pull, the pins holding it in place are removed. The bride holds onto the bouquet and each guest chooses a ribbon from the base. On the count of three, everyone begins pulling as the bride loosens her grip. Each guest then ends up with a flower and her charm.

Here they are waiting to pull! I thought I had taken a picture of the charm I got but apparently not. I got the engagement ring one haha.

Some more pics I found online.

Fiance and I made a weekend trip to the beach house to meet vendors, research rehearsal dinner and basically get things figured out. Haven't gotten a lot accomplished but it's nice to get away...Franks Pizza and Britt's doughnuts.....mMMmmm...

My sinuses are going CRAZY so instead of tossing and turning, I decided to play online. Here's a pretty brooch bouquet IMO.

here are the white/silver/goldish ones ive gotten done:

and here are the colors:

im gonna end up having way more brooches than i need, but it's ok-some of them are uglier when put in "flower form" (lol) and the ones i still like but don't use i may randomly put in the centerpieces on the table

^Pretty stuff!

We ended up going to see the aquarium today and were completely blown away. We LOVED everything about it except the price....SO we are pretty set on doing a Sunday wedding (10% discount) and cutting out a few things to make it work.

So, now to get a date picked. We plan to take our friends down before the wedding weekend for a free stay at fiance's family beach house (like we do every year) and then end the weekend with our wedding....but there are a few kinks - They can only do a rehearsal on Thursday so we were thinking....Thursday rehearsal, Friday or Saturday rehearsal lunch or dinner and bachelorette/bachelor party that night, then wedding on Sunday....which would cause most people to have to take Monday off of work...sooo.........

What is your honest opinion of a wedding on Sunday, JULY 3rd? Our rationale is that most people will be off that Monday anyhow for the 4th and since we are asking our wedding party people to get there on a Thursday, it gives them time to get back to town without having to take an additional day off work...and there'd be fireworks the night of our wedding.

^^ Yeah the price of the aquarium is pretty ridiculous. I get why it's that much but it's still $texas. At least depending on which one you rent they have a lot of the things available you'd have to otherwise rent.

I think with any Sunday wedding and especially with out of town guests, you have to realize that not everyone would be able to come...and not everyone has July 4th off. I'm going to a wedding this July 4th and not only is it out of town, but it's also on a Sunday. If she wasn't a really good friend, I wouldn't go. I know some people that aren't going because they always have traditional July 4th plans with family. On the plus side, any day is cheaper than a Saturday!

Our guest list is bloated with family friends who I am not personally close to and I feel kind of like having them come in on a Sunday will weed out the people who don't really care about being there...But, yes, it might be sad if some of my really close friends were unable to make it. I can see both sides.

MY OWN FATHER said if he can get his bowels in order, he'd be there so you see what I am working with here.
