I seriously feel like at least 60 percent of it was written specifically for me at this moment in my life.

Incredible.

The Bon Iver & St. Vincent, Grizzly Bear, and Lykke Li tracks from the New Moon OST are uniformly excellent and/or beautiful. The Thom Yorke track is pretty good, too.

The verse of the new Jemina Pearl single is fucking terrible, but the chorus and bridge are awesome.

Jupiter One semi-recently release a second album, Sunshower:

I haven't listened to the new album yet (despite being a huge fan of the band -- I plan to be surprised on a first listen after actually buying the album), but I'm 95% certain they've stayed on the same course as their first, and are still a mix of upbeat synth-pop/indie rock with a hefty amount of influence from punk, funk, and electronic. Since my opinion shouldn't really matter to most of you, here's a good review: http://www.shrednews.com/jupiteronesunshower/

Also, they'll be at Players in CH tonight (Friday night). Unfortunately, it is at Players, but I encourage everyone that thinks they'd enjoy the music to come down there because I assume that any one of your presences would improve the crowd somewhat. The band members are all also pretty cool people who like to share a few drinks and talk after the show, and a good time is to be had by all.

I know some people on here like MGMT. Well if you like them then you might like Empire Of The Sun. They're a duo from Australia. You probably have heard them when you see that Vizio television commercial.

yeah i didn't read the music of 2008 thread. so what. i don't keep up with every little band out there. i don't have the time (medical school will do that to you) nor the will to follow music very closely these days. i know that Luke Steele is on the first track of Jay-Z's The Blueprint 3 album.

sorry if someone has already said something, but i haven't seen any mention of Them Crooked Vultures yet. i don't know how i didn't find out about it sooner, but apparently josh homme (queens of the stone age), john paul jones (led zeppelin), and dave grohl (foo fighters/nirvana) decided to get together and make an album. i've heard a couple bootlegs from one of their shows, and their stuff sounds pretty awesome. i guess the album is supposed to come out some time before the end of the year or something.

^^they'll be on Austin City Limits some time this season, I think towards the end.

As a huge FF & QOTSA fan, I am eagerly anticipating that album. I've only teased myself with the little clips they've released.

I'm rather excited about Them Crooked Vultures as well, but Josh Homme really needs to get that remastered QOTSA self-titled out.

The new BTBAM, upon first listen, rivals Colors.

Shit is unbelievable. I don't see myself listening to anything else for at least a week.

i would have seen Them Crooked Vultures last weekend in the VIP Lounge at the HOB here with my friends except that me and my fiancee broke up and ihad to drive 8 hours to give her her stuff. Dave Grohl even came in and they got to talk to him for a few minutes.

The new Weezer album is here http://st0l3n.blogspot.com/2009/10/weezer-raditudedeluxeedition-2cd-web.html

Haven't listened to it yet, but I'm sure like most of what they've done lately some of it will be terrible and some of it will be pretty decent. At the very least I'm gonna get some laughs out of hearing Rivers rap with Lil' Wayne and a Hindi singer on a Weezer track.

It's really bad.

On top of that, they took the one good song and added a ridiculously corny intro to it.

I'd disagree. There are four or five songs on Maladroit that I like, but right now I'm looking at one and a half on this one.

The last time Weezer was a great band, I was 14. *sigh*

Phrazes for the Young has leaked in 96 KBPS. I don't know if it's even worth messing with at that bitrate, but here's the link for anyone interested.
