i've been waiting on this zero punctuation for a while now.

entertaining as always for sure, but i get the feeling there wasn't much to criticize in MW2 for him. even some of the things he did criticize, like the short campaign, i was a huge fan of and thought they actually made the game that much better.

I fucking hate how I'm always thrown into a on going game onto the losing site with less than 3 minutes left and my team is down by a lot. I've just had 3 games in a row do this.

If only the early quitter douche bags would realize that they're always going to be on the losing team because they suck.

I jumped into a game one time literally like 15 seconds before it ended and we lost by like 2 kills...I had 0 kills and 0 deaths since I had just joined, and my teammates were giving me shit for not getting any kills lol

Yeah thats me. What is your XLive name? Easiest way to stay alive is take it slow and watch the minimap for enemy shots. Check your corners and listen for footsteps. Also try to stick with a teammate and watch his back (i.e. take some of his kills) unless youre trying to go silent (silenced weapon with cold blooded and ninja pro).

during my later months in World at War, i played mostly hardcore. I found it to be enjoyable and relatively balanced. I tried out hardcore in MW2 and:

is there a reason that on offline co-op the split screen doesn't cover the entire screen? like the top half is set to the left with a black bar on the right and vice versa for the bottom. kind of annoying

^it's because equal split screen is actually pretty distracting to both players


with space, you have an easier time focusing on "your" part of the screen




and wahoowa I'm not really new to CoD, I just look at my Kill : Death ratio and I see 0.78 - not the worst, but not the best, and my accuracy is ~15%, then I look at yours and through a larger number of games you're at ~1.8 and ~25%.

I figure there's got to be something for me to learn here.

the ACOG scope is a useless piece of garbage. sucks they make you get 20 kills with it to get the thermal (its a pain in the ass with the sniper, im having to go into hardcore mode just to get the kills)

^ i got it 2 days after it came out and had only played WaW. i'm just now starting to get to the point where i generally finish a round .500 or with a positive k/d and a decent amount of kills. i don't jerk off to k/d ratios, but i do play more conservatively and try to focus on not dying. i still have a ways to go before i'm one of those guys who finishes a round 23-6 though.

yeah, I was playing earlier today (I just got the game last night and only played the regular campaign before hitting the sack) and have a k/d ratio well below .500 . I'm sure thats pretty normal, but it is frustrating to realize how far behind the eight ball I am, especially when I get stabbed in the back or some shit and I didnt think anyone was close to me. Now I'm starting to get the hang of it a little more, and its getting more fun, I'm glad I'm not the only person on this website n00bin it up

and I dont know what some of the stuff you guys are talking about means. Like, what are campers?

^ campers are people who sit in one spot, waiting for someone to walk by to kill (gives them a huge advantage because the people walking may not be able to see them before they are killed)

I wouldn't worry too much about K/D ratio, especially if you are still learning the ropes. It really means nothing unless you just want to have something to brag about to hardcore CoD nerds.

I don't care how much you've played COD4 or CODWAW...when the maps are brand new, theres gonna be a learning curve...some maps I still suck on, but some I already know pretty well and I generally do much better on those maps

gotcha, I can see the difference already between me and the people who have memorized the maps. I dont care much about the k/d ratio, I keep track of it in my head obviously so I know if I'm getting better or not, but I didnt realize it was a bragging point until I read this thread. I never got into these online FPS games cause I knew there would be people who dedicate a lot of their time to playing and would beat me to the point where the game isnt enjoyable, but so far I havent really come across any of that. I'm definitely glad I bought the game and am getting into the action

Aside from learning the maps, the game also becomes easier the more you level up...more guns or accessories for guns once you've used them, and better perks...you need to find particular play styles that suit YOUR style...like if you prefer running around a bunch, you probably won't find much use for a sniper rifle...or if you do like sniping, unlocking something like a claymore can really be a help

This was true in COD4 and I'm sure it was true in WAW although I never got into that game as much...its kinda cool too when it all comes together...like you get a map and youre like "hey i remember the layout in this section" and you know where to look for enemies...then you kill a few and you're like "hey my aiming is becoming more precise"...its why the COD games' online play has been so good...although I wasn't in love with it in COD2 and COD3 nearly as much as COD4 and MW2

^ there definitely is a separation in styles.. 4 of my 5 custom classes are assault rifles since i rarely ever stop moving for more than a few seconds. there's something to be said for strategy but i don't like sittin around much either

i'll add that i like keeping my k/d up, mostly because to me it's an indicator of how well i'm playing and i'm naturally competitive (or at least try to be). for my style, it means a little more... past that, it's all meaningless

Another good way to learn the maps is to play some "single player" split screen multiplayer...just start a split screen match and only sign in one controller...then you can just kind of run around the maps if you want without any pressure

i fucking rape face these days, idk what happened but i turned my 15-20 matches into 35-3 matches, over the last few days.


i will say i'm already ready for map pack numero uno. Haha i was talking shit to some kid who was camping on wastelands. He was all "I don't care about capping the flags i just care about kills" to which i informed him that i was a lower rank than him, had more kills, less deaths and more objective points than anyone else on the team. You don't have to camp to get kill streaks. Just have to be a little bitch

Finally played my first hardcore team deathmatch without dying (9 and 0, bunch of challenges completed apparently) it was on the junk yard map forgot what its called but the one with the dismantled airplanes in the center. I was using the last sniper rifle you can unlock with an acog scope and silencer + M9 with silencer/fmj I think this might be my new favorite weapon for the time being. Because I can still run around as I do with the M16/ACR since I'm using the acog scope instead of the standard sniper scope.

kiljadn what is your Xbox Live name?

My accuracy is pretty high because I dont use SMGs or LMGs...pretty much stick with ARs and Snipers. I also fire in bursts to and only shoot when I have a target in my sights.

I attribute my K/D to being slightly cautious and being accurate. Its crazy how many people just run around without paying attention to whats around them. And killstreaks really help out...like AC130 or Chopper Gunner.

i started playing HC last night to get headshots and found it quite enjoyable. weird thing is that i'm using the exact same loadout as my other main class [except with fmj trying to get extended mag] and that was never the case in 4 or 5

Scrapyard...thats one of my better maps without question...Slave Famous was on my team in a TDM match where I went 27-2 on Scrapyard...definitely my best multiplayer round so far on this game...I love that map

TDM on scrapyard aggravated the hell out of me last night. 4 guys from the other team occupied the catwalk in the building on one side and had clean shots at the entire map. They must have been doing tactical insertion when killed because we couldn't get them out of there for the entire game.

Oh, and the other guy on their team was running around killing everyone with a pair of friggin .45s. I yelled some great obscenities at my kill cam over that.

Wonder why they made shotguns a secondary weapon in this game....automatic shotguns at that. Then decide to make only one map that is relatively open to make shotguns useless. Noob cannon use is all I see sometimes.
