There should have been a foul on Wood for grabbing Hall's jersey and flinging him past, then there should have been a foul on Hall trying to bull rush Howell into Wood. But if nobody is calling late fouls in any ACC game, I'm glad we took advantage

That "jersey pull" is pretty weak. I mean...I see it...but it didn't look like it had any effect.

Oh yeah...Kentucky ranked in this week's poll. What say you CarZin?

^^^Yeah I was arguing with someone in a game thread and people thought I was crazy for insinuating that I though the ACC was a little overrated and that the B1G was slightly overrated.

The numbers pan out what my eyeballs tell me that there isn't as much separation as some might have people believe.

dude those are averages over the past 15+ years

you were talking about this year which the Big 10 is clearly dominant

^ it's closer than you think bro and that's been the point. Not saying they aren't the best right now. But I scoff if they're supposed to be dominant. You could make a legit argument that the Big East is better.

Is the Big East "better" because they are bigger? That is pretty much the only metric you could use this year.

No conference is dominant, and no team is dominant, but the Big Ten is objectively the toughest league this year.

6 teams in the top 25 currently (1 more than B1G)
A better Non-conference W-L
Head to head match up this season 4W Big East - 3W B1G
and a lower average RPI

It could be argued. Once again y'all are being obtuse and assuming I'm saying there is a better league. I'm just saying its close, Indiana and Michigan are not the whole conference and there are some garbage teams at the bottom like every other league.

best conference in the regular season means jack shit

when NCSU/Miami/Duke cuts down the nets in April, the ACC will once again be recognized as the best

I think we have a better chance winning it than duke to be honest. If theyre 3s arent falling, theyre done. I could see them going out in round 2 or sweet 16. Granted the way we're playing now really polarizes our potential run. I could see us losing in the first round and i could see us making a long run.

Miami looks like a legit contender

it didn't look too bad, but non-contact torn knee ligament injuries never do. it always looks so benign. sucks for him. i've been there. terrible feeling having your knee feel like it just completely rearranged itself.

Non-contact? He sprinted down the court and slammed his knee full speed into the basket support.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xnhut16Xpw

I could see it being ACL, especially if the shin was planted and momentum forced his thigh forward. The rough test of ACL connectivity is to put you on your back, plant your foot, and try to pull the shin from the knee, so it doesn't really need a twist to kill it.

Looking at it again, it looks like the rest of him twisted around the post a little bit, so maybe he did get some twist to take out some ligaments.

^^i dont see whats so off about that post...we clearly are enigmatic and schizophrenic enough to lose the first weekend, or make a deep run

and if duke's 3's arent falling they could easily lose to lehigh, i mean boston college

while i'd love to get all the calls that UNC and Duke get in conference play every year, they tend to actually get fair officiating in the big tourney

yeah....

but my guess is the injury occured when he landed. and he landed well in front of the padded basket support. you can see he's unstable upon landing and his momentum obviously carries him forward into the support.

i don't know, man. i tore my ACL on a very similar play.

so yes, my opinion is that the injury was "non-contact" in that no one or thing made contact with his knee to cause the injury.

[Edited on February 12, 2013 at 10:31 PM. Reason : on the tenth watch, you may be right. he certianly could have damaged it hitting the support.]

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ncaab--nerlens-noel-s-fluke-knee-injury-casts-bleak-pall-over-promising-talent-s-basketball-career-042703462.html

And it begins.

The problem with removing the age limit to the draft is that in the long term it hurts both the NBA and high school students far more than it helps them out. The real solution would be to have a reasonable d-league where you can play on a contract and get national attention. But that's what college athletics are in this country (not Europe BTW) and the system is too entrenched to facilitate a transfer to a D-League.

Really these guys that would be first rounders out of high school should just go to EuRope for a year. And if it were not for the illogical perception that you have to play in the NBA and live in America to be a supastar, they prolly would. But all of this talk about removing the draft limit is nonsense.

it's not nonsense, NBA people just need to be better about evaluating.

There's no excuse to keep these people from the NBA, if they can get drafted out of high school they should be allowed to. Forcing them to play one year in college is fucking retarded.

how is sending them to europe for a year, or going to the D-League any different ?

I don't get why people keep thinking that the comparison to the baseball thing is a valid argument. MLB draft >>> bigger than the NBA draft, and that rule is not gonna encourage more kids to go to college... it'll encourage them to go to the draft.

Look it's real simple, we need a more competitive league than the D league for high school players to play in before they can be properly evaluated. That league is called Europe. I feel like it doesn't make any sense for these guys to bitch about how they can't get paid for a year when if they are that good, then European clubs would pay them well and hook them up with a contract.

Time and time agin you see guys blow it up in HS that can't do anything in NBA/college. The talent differential is just too large. It hurts the NBA when busts get drafted, and it also unfairly cheats them out of the college game when/if they don't succeed. The European leagues are the minor leagues now. That is what young studs should be taking advantage of . It is unfortunate that guys like Noel, Muhammad and yes even Purvis are playing at the college level. They risk too much by injury.

look ... it's real simple. It's up to the NBA to decide who can and cannot play. Not the kids trying to get drafted.
