I love when I find a pair of jeans in my giant stack o' jeans that I don't know if actually fit that fit perfectly. It's the small things in life.

I hate when I'm waiting on an incredibly important response to something and I never get it.

Actually yes. But I didn't realize that until she made a comment about how fascinated she was with the hash cash wallet (that you left behind and I have been using since).

I just edited this out of the Dell wikipedia article:

"These days, the XPS is used exclusively for LAN parties that Ian Mac is not allowed participate in as he is an artard."

Sorry for not being any fun

I am impulsive in weird ways. I just made some bacon swiss pimento cheese as a result of my searching for all the tea sandwich recipes on Tuesday. Now I want to make all the pimento cheeses. I'm afraid to start thinking about what cookies I'm going to make for a cookie swap next week, lest I have to go out and buy $200 in baking supplies to make all my ideas.

Why would purchasing a certain item prohibit you from being able to use PayPal on a big-name website?

Omg I'm gonna mmiss this job. Little buddy is so sweet most of the time and easy going. And yesterday I got here at nine, put him to sleep and he slept until after 11 and then at 2 we napped together in the rocker for 45 minutes and today I put him down and 9 and he is still out. When he wakes up we will have a snack and go to the park. After lunch we are going to walk back to my house and visit with my friends that are in town.

"First Australian same-sex weddings start early

December 7, 2013

CANBERRA, Australia — A state lawmaker and his partner dressed in matching suits and ties embraced and kissed in front of Australia’s Parliament House early Saturday in one of the nation’s first same-sex marriages.

Stephen Dawson, a 38-year-old member of the opposition Labor Party in the Western Australian Parliament, and partner Dennis Liddelow, 39, flew 3,500 kilometers (2,200 miles) across Australia to be among the first gay couples to marry in ceremonies in the national capital Canberra on Saturday — the earliest opportunity under the provincial government’s landmark gay marriage laws."

dammit, so Super-Prestigious Professor X has unexpectedly left the area until December 17. He's already written me a letter of recommendation, and I was supposed to meet with him today to discuss jobs,

I don't know him that well at all (though we've spoken on a few occasions) but I think he has a favorable opinion of my work. I've drafted the following e-mail to him:

Quote :
"
Dear Dr. Supermathguy,

Okay, that's quite all right...I know you're extremely busy. I hope you had a safe trip.

There were a couple of specific jobs that I was really hoping to discuss with you...I hope you won't mind my mentioning them here. They are

X University, Y Position
(Dr. Myadviser mentioned that [professor at X University] is a good friend of yours)

and

Z University, Q Instructorship in Mathematics
(Dr. Myadviser mentioned that you said Z University might be a good destination for me.)

I just wanted to let you know that I'll be applying for these two jobs. So if you had any suggestions about either of them, or if you got the chance to put in a good word for me at either Department, I'd be incredibly grateful. But if not, that's fine; you've already given me a tremendous amount of help so far.

That's all. Thanks a lot for your invaluable assistance you've given me throughout my job-search, and happy holidays.

Jeff
"

do you think this sounds acceptable? this is a pretty important e-mail, so I wanted to get the opinion of the first random person to comment on it.

Just a suggestion: the last line sounds a little too informal.

I'd replace "That's all. Thanks a lot for your invaluable......" with "Thank you for your invaluable assistance....."

or maybe he's a cool guy and would appreciate your more informal approach.

thank you

^
that never would have occurred to me. He's Polish (for whatever that's worth), but I really have no clear conception of how formal or informal he is in dealing with his inferiors. I switched "Thanks a lot for your" to "Thank you again for the". I think it reads better now.

On the real, I do appreciate you guys' feedback and reassurance. e-mail sent
