You also need a hug, a margarita, and a kitten.

That is my prescription for everything. Works most of the time. We can put a kicker shot of tequila on the side.

My grandfather passed Monday. I'm sad, but mainly for my dad. It was sudden, heart attack, but he was 89. I wasn't super close to him; he was always a pretty particular and reserved man. Aside from my in laws and now this post, I haven't told anyone he died. My cousin is supposed to get married this weekend so we're trying to keep things happy for my Nana and celebrate that. The memorial service (cremation) won't even be until the new year with all of the holiday stuff and it's the first weekend the minister my nana wants is available.

I feel there is something wrong with me because I'm not broadcasting his death to everyone (except you people where minus a handful I don't know you all IRL). Even calling and telling my mother in law yesterday felt weird. Haven't even told my best friend.

This is not how I thought the death of a grandparent would go. I've been lucky to have had all 4 until now. But I thought I would be more sad.

? Ramble ramble ramble

It is a really busy time of year. Give yourself more time to process before you start dissecting your feelings. The emotions I felt with the last death I experienced surprised me, too. It wasn't until weeks later did I feel what I thought I should have been feeling the whole time.

My brother's girlfriend is throwing a giant pity party on Facebook because her 17-year-old son is going to be gone from tomorrow until January.

Sorry to hear lk

Also, I was doing an email compliance course for work and there was this hilarious scenario where Jim bob was on the phone and got a pop up gift box in his email. Since he was distracted by the phone he clicked on it and a picture of Shakespeare with the words "goodnight, sweet prince" showed and is computer was wiped clean. Made me think immediately of tww. Ya rotten bastids.

My mother's father was gone before any of us were born, my father's father passed when I was about a year old, so I have no memories of either of them. My mother's mother passed actually pretty shortly after my mother's brother, but I had almost no relationship with her past elementary school... she lived in Austin and I hadn't seen her in years, we had very occasional generic phone calls, but she was sick often, so I wasn't completely surprised. Distraught because of the passing, yes, but not surprised.
My father's mother is my only remaining grandparent, and... admittedly, I feel like I lost her years ago. Through college her dementia has worsened to the point of she has no idea who anyone is anymore, she used to at least recognize her children. I have no idea how I'll feel when she passes. I don't handle death well, but I suppose it'll at least be less of a struggle for everyone? She's not even going to come to my brother's wedding in a few months.

There's no better feeling than your first full year at your current job, you hear that the "bonus checks might not be as good as they were last year, but should improve next year" and ends up being double what you had thought

Probably not a bad idea.

I need to go back and relive the weekend before last. Thinking about that isn't helping.

I now have a bed which consists of a mattress on frame like an adult. I will soon have an entertainment center again with a tv and surround sound. Gosh, after that we might even have a clean kitchen and put some of these boxes into storage!

Moving in sucks when you're trying to work a second job and hang out with your friends on the side.

Do they "require" a 30-day notice, or did you just feel like giving one?

Apparently it's on the contract I signed I didn't realize it until I told my boss I was leaving last week. I had wanted my last day to be Dec 27th, but he wants to maximize my time here as much as possible so that they can get a functioning replacement trained. So now my last day is January 10th and my start date is January 13th.

It's a bit frustrating because I dont have a plan for where to live from right after christmas to when I move to the new job. My parents are moving and the house will be empty so I guess for two weeks it will just be me, my cat, a litter box, a floor and some blankets.

^ Speaking of Amazon. I joined Prime because I realized that I used Amazon a lot this year and could use the faster shipping. However, stuff on that website is hard to find. They could seriously use a better search function.

sometimes it throws things out in a weird order, i think it depends on what terminology you use to search for items though.

i was looking for footie pajamas yesterday and they were showing slippers at top

Ask Fareako about the empty house and cats thing. He did the same thing after the movers took all our stuff from Florida and I was already gone.

^ I have that problem too. If you are looking for an exact thing where you can put in a model number or something it's easier to use than if you are searching for a generic term.
