it's pretty fun, or as fun as i wanted it to be

it was handicapped though, because part of the fun is taking advantage of the hornet and riding on the skid with the flag back to base...cant really do that in 1v1...need to get a group of atleast 3v3 to make it fun (hell you could do 2v2 but its more fun if you have one person to play D while the other two go for the flag

finally got to play 2v2 tnight on it. its fun as shit, but i see what someone meant about hornets being overpowered. me and my partner got pinned down for like 10 min straight due to a lack of weapons since the gauss warthogs wouldnt respawn.

overall it was an 8/10 for me, but im biased

If you don't buy the maps, you will likely not be able to play certain playlists. Thats how it was in Halo 2 anyway.

^i couldn't get past the part where you take down two scarabs, its so fucking frustrating and i'm 90% sure it requires two players.

The only way i could conceive of beating it solo was to have the computer drop you off on one scarab, take it out, make your way back to the tank that you drove in on (yay ghosts), snipe the scarab and any enemies with the cannon while dodging the scarab gun, then hope you can take out the damn thing's legs and get close enough to board it while not getting completely owned by random effects.

That, or kill one of the pilots of a hornet before you get dropped off, come back, board a hornet and take down the second scarab by jumping from the hornet and hoping you aimed right

so irritating i gave up...kinda like halo 2 where you came to the canyon and had to take down about 16 fucking accurate snipers, then fight ghosts in close range, then fight two ghosts and a wraith

I am finding that I have the most fun with this game in forge mode with friends. Moving around 3x as fast and juping twice as high while having a sticky/spike grenade fight is great... or a hornet battle with rockets/missiles only on sandtrap.. shit like that i enjoy 10x more than matchmaking.

^^^^on legendary you ride over, hop out on one scarab, destroy that back power thing, run back(prob gonna have to kill a couple brutes real quick) to where you got dropped off at and usually the hornet is there to pick you up if you are fast enough, then they will take you over to the next one...sadly there is a bit of luck in this still, because i can do this routine perfectly fine, but while im riding to the next scarab, the top thing on it will shoot me and the hornet down, and there really is nothing you can do about that.

also, the other way ive beaten it on legendary is just staying way back at the cliff in the tank, and when the scarabs turn to where they are not facing you, you just shoot off the back panel covering up the power thing, then shoot inside once or twice and that destroys the scarabs.

i beat the whole game legendary solo, mostly because i did not have xbox live and have anything else to do with the game, so i had plenty of time. if i'm thinking about the right part, the two scarabs are in the snow and you have to beat them before you enter the area with the IWHBYD rings.

well, what i did was go to the area where the hornets are, kill the pilot by the hornet i'm taking, and then begin to work on the brutes that are maning the front of the scarabs with the hornet, because that have the big green cannon guns. i also take out all the enemy banshees and ghost. then i focused on one scarab legs, take him down, jump off the hornet, run in the downed scarab, and shot the weak spot. i jumped back on my hornet just outside, and complete the process with scarab #2.

i found another area more frustrating that this area: tsalvo highway, an area with at least 20 brutes, some flying, some with green cannons, some with enemy battle rifle, and a scarab right behind them. i gave up after 2 hours, restarted the mission and planned for it, and beat it in 10 min...go figure.

You can take out the scarabs without getting off of the hornet. Just shoot the legs till it drops down and stops moving and you can fly around back, blast off the rear armor, and shoot the core.

^^^^ That's where I'm stuck! I'm behind the far house, have taken out about half, and over and over run out of BR ammo, then spiker ammo, and end up dealing with the tank and 2-3 brutes that, sure enough, blow me to hell.

when you restarted, what'd you do differently? save a sniper rifle? just stay out of the clusterfuck and pick off from afar?

^^i think i actually did the same thing i had previously done, and what your talking about. the thing that was different the second time around was i realized there was battle rifle ammo in those huts. the first time i played it, one of the brutes blew the BR ammo crate on its side and i never knew there was ammo there. the second time i tried it, the ammo crate stayed upright, and i had plenty to pick off all the brutes one at a time. hope this helps.

Wow, definitely didn't know that about the scarabs, that you could shoot out the back armor. I'll have to do that. Whenever I took a hornet for my own I would drop off onto a scarab so the hornet would fall and blow up usually/eventually...didn't think about using it to take out the legs.

I'm a fan of close combat, but I also saved the sniper rifle for when I could pick off the troublesome guys. There's a shotgun on the wall in the hut to your right, so to start I used a BR to pick off some guys, then fought my way to the shotgun and went into close combat with the guys. The gold armored brute with the big gun was pretty annoying but all you have to do is use a plasma rifle to kill his armor then he's vulnerable. I used a lot of grenades, some stickies to get instant kills and frags to make the brutes jump so I could close in with the shotgun.

There's also a bit of luck in that you can saves to start from when you die. Man, now I feel like playing Halo 3 again . I kind of think the Legendary single player is funner than the match making simply so that you don't get the frustration of playing with complete idiots on your team...but it really sucks when you spend however many hours on just ONE damn part of the level.

dont see why you couldnt get it on single player, unless its just not there for single player mode. since you start off with rockets on that level, i figured if you just run backwards and shoot the ground area where you jump from, you could get across. only problem is that you have to start all the way back at the beginning of the level if you dont make it.

you run backwards much slower, so unless the boost from rockets is significant enough to overcome that you'd probably have to run, jump, turn around midflight really fast and fire
