i went through acts 1 and 2 being pretty ho-hum with the item drops. I hit act 3 and it was like Christmas Morning! Only 1 legendary, but my rare drops became great and alot of my magical drops were things with like +40 Str, +35 Vit, +35 Dex, +8% chance to find magic, etc. good stuff. I know thats prolly not great for you high level guys, but for whats NOW a level 30 barb, it made me happy

Somehow managed to solo Diablo last night on my 57 barb - totally thought I could just right into Inferno (mainly to see myself get wrecked)...was disappointed I "have" to be 60. Oh well, only 2.5 levels to go.

yes, they are wrong. magic find only increases the likelyhood a blue/rare/legendary/set item will drop and has no effect on the stat roll by identifying it.

Discovering that relying on 5 stacks of Valor alone for your MF and no gear bonus isn't going to cut it in Inferno. Hardly having any yellows drop despite a pretty solid kill record of elite packs and treasure goblins in the front half of Act 1.

with 5 stacks of NV I always get at least 3 rares and 5 blues off boss kills in Inferno.

I'm thinking that legendary/set drops are pretty different than D2. In D2 with a bunch of MF, boss kills would yield unique and set pieces regularly. That doesn't really seem to be the case in D3, though.

I've gotten 3 legendaries so far. One came off a mini-boss in Act 4 Hell. The other two dropped from champion packs, but not from the boss/last kill. My friend has seen one, and it came off a weapon rack. Each time, we had 1-2 stacks of NV.

also, I got 2 legendaries within the first few days of starting (about 10-12 hours logged). the bf was jealous. haven't had one since, currently level 41 barb.

They should either buff legendaries a lot, make their disenchants have more meaningful materials, or both. As it stands, they are orange rares that are kinda shitty.

I wonder why they changed the nomenclature from unique (from diablo 2) to legendary (diablo 3). it makes sense that they are unique since they have a very definitive name. On top of this, if a rare of the same level (1000+ dps weapons at 60) is better than a legendary at 60 (my wormwood staff is like 518 dps), it doesn't really make it so "legendary" anymore.

Yeah that kept me farming for hours just trying to get high level runes. Also encouraged you to farm other things than just the bosses since they almost never dropped any.

Blizzard knows exactly what they are doing. They will give us just enough with each patch and expansion to keep us on their sweet teet for many moons. They are banking on the idea that if they make it a gradual implementation, players will be too entrenched in the game to leave, and might even spend some dollar bucks on the AH. They are probably right too.

As ranged, I love fire chains. Mortar and Invulnerable are a completely different matter, though.
PS: Those reapers in Act 2 inferno can also DIAF.

He had been saying for days he would probably just laugh. Most of that time was spent farming act 1 inferno with no real upgrades so he knows in reality it will take him maybe 30 hours to get back to the same point.
