haven't had a chance to take it out yet due to work. that's about to change soon.

yeah, it's pretty much got it all except they don't offer universal sonar built-in on the riptide (saltwater) models. i'm really looking forward to trying it out. here it is after i got it mounted:

How is the water going to be in the Neuse the next few weeks? a group of folk are going to raft/float down on the 20th (not this sat but the next) from old milburnie to poole road

i've never been on the neuse much further upstream than Mar-Mac, but this time of year you can usually walk a great deal of it and i know it only gets shallower up in wake county, so i would imagine that there is probably so little current that the going will be slow.

if you do things like this often, i would recommend purchasing Paddling Eastern North Carolina. it has river section lengths and tells you what water speed corresponds to certain USGS flows, which are available online. then you can see how fast you can float a section.

cool... i've done it before... there's not much paddling to it... just floating. the first time we floated and it took maybe 3 and a half hours... the second time it was a much bigger group and it took us close to 6 hours.

nope, not planning on deer hunting that much this year. most of october is gonna be work every day. nov/dec are best months for speck fishing and with the new (to me) boat, i'd rather fish.

for me it's like bow hunting deer > squirrel hunting > rifle hunting deer
