even in those situations I would not actively pull for UNC, I would avoid watching whatever game they were playing in and hope that when I checked the score that the other team had lost. I could never bring myself to watch a UNC game and pull for them 10/29/2010 3:23:23 PM |

I enjoy rooting against UNC more than I enjoy rooting for State
So even if a UNC win would put state in the Conference title game, I would still root for them to lose

But for those of you who do make it to Clemson have a kick ass time! I think the key to Wilson playing as well as he did was the play calling.
no more of that just heave it down and expect the WRs to catch it mess...they realized that the little crossing routes and screen passes open up the deep pass.
If i remember right he had only 2 passes 1 completion that was over 20 yards and both were to Jarvis Williams.
im glad they are going back to that style...Wilson is a lot better that way. 10/29/2010 3:59:05 PM |

Oh yeah, so last night this severely obese southern NCSU dude who was pissed and talking smack about Russ, even before the game started(he was saying crap like start Glennon, and if Glennon were playing now we would be winning 21-nothing), so he actually left at halftime and never came back, b/c he thought the game was over.
Just pissed me off b/c I was thinking how many State students and alums could have had this prick's seat and didnt make the game, but everyone sitting around him was glad he didnt return after halftime. Why even come to the game if your going to be that negative before the game even starts, just didnt make sense?? 10/29/2010 4:02:58 PM |

from an FSU fan who sat next to me at the game last night "there is one solid reason why the ACC will never be the SEC in football....OFFICIALS, there is no consistency in calls and there is no way one team can have what seems like 10 holding calls and the other team 0??? Come on Commish Swafford, get these guys $h!t together!" now that I look at the penalties, it was really called pretty even FSU 10 for 81 yards NCSU 9 for 60 10/29/2010 4:29:53 PM |

But instead of thinking about that imagine how miserable this must be for UNC fans... do they REALLY want to win if it gives us a walk into the ACC Championship??!? We've resorted them to having to consider cheering against their own fucking team haha

I dont know if I'd say the officiating was in our favor last night, but I will say that the timing of the penalty calls was not fortunate for FSU
They mostly looked like legit penalties, and the crowd gets a lot of credit for the illegal formations and false starts IMO 10/29/2010 5:19:23 PM |

Also, when it was 4th and 1, and O'brien was going to bring our kicker in to possibly tie it, I swear about 300-400 folks around me were like (all at the same time), "fucking go for it!", then the time out was called, and we felt as if somehow our section had influenced O'brien's call, hehe.
But seriously, I think it was like 2:44 left on the clock , us and FSU had 3 timeouts, we're on like our half yard line, I thought they should have just lined George O'bryan or our Robert Crisp at Full back, have us get in the shot gun formation and have one of them bull-doze their way through .
It was a really sweet play-action call. How many times did George(our tight end) get thrown to, b/c I dont remember Russ targeting him that much during the game??" |

I'll never ever root against State in anything. That is blasphemy. The only time in my life as a State fan (did not grow up a State, became one when I started school) that was I not completed dissappointed in us losing was that ECU game in Chuck's last season.

Oh man that would be a tough one. If we had nothing to gain(say we were like 2-9 or some shit) I'd have no problem just being like, "screw it, rather us lose so they don't gain anything." But if we had anything to gain at all, even if it was just a slightly better bowl game no way I'd root against.
Just realize I'm not sure if the above scenario could ever happen that we'd be playing a team from the other division that late in the season... either way if it was a situation where we really had nothing we could gain at all and they had everything to gain I'd be fine with the loss, but outside that...

Scenario:
In the next to last week of the season an unranked, two conference loss UNC team upsets #1 overall ranked Miami (previously unbeaten) in a Thursday night 34-31 thriller that they won on a 80 yard TD drive with 2 minutes left. This leaves them a game behind Miami for first place in the division but holding the tiebreaker.
Meanwhile, FSU has already clinched an appearance as the opponent in the Championship game. HOWEVER, in this hypothetical scenario an unimaginable series of events takes place just to illustrate my point.. News hits the wire leading up to the final week that 12 FSU starters have just been suspended for accepting illegal benefits from agents, numerous others are pending review for alleged academic misconduct, their star TE has broken his ankle, and their coaches son is being investigated for his relationship with a member of the athletic tutoring staff. The source of the scandal is a social networking site named Twitter and Sportscenter is reporting that an ineligible player/agent at FSU has been caught "spending mad stacks and having dumb long money"
In the final week of the season UNC falls behind 34-7 to Duke before TJ Yates erupts for 278 yards and 4 TD's in the 4th quarter to pull off a 35-34 win and replacing Maryland's Frank Reich as the most memorable comeback in ACC history.
Miami, deflated after the loss to UNC the week before and blowing their shot at a national title comes out flat against NC State and compiles 180 yards in penalties, a 6 yard punt, and benches their QB at halftime for punching their offensive coordinator.
A 3-8 NC State team with wins over Wake, App State, and Buffalo lines up to kick a 38 yarder that would give them a 11-10 win with no time remaining. (We scored off 2 FG's and a safety when a shotgun snap went over the QB's head and he dove on the ball in his own end zone).
Given this information, would you want that kick to go in? 10/29/2010 6:44:21 PM |
