Is sean miller better than dixon?

I definitely wouldn't put miller over barnes. Stevens may be better than miller, too. I don't think there is a reason to get fixated on miller.

Why are you mentioning Stevens? Not a single sane person actually believes he will come here.

The people mentioning Stevens obviously have no fucking clue about his contract.

Barnes is about 15 years older than Miller and Dixon (who are surprisingly only three years apart).

Miller has lots of upside, Barnes and Dixon have seemingly hit their ceilings. Either Barnes or Dixon would potentially be the best coach we've had in decades, but neither is likely to build something huge. Miller has that potential.

I for one am still a fan of Dixon

do the haters think he told his players to foul on the Pitt free throw attempts or something?

he had a great year, he is a great coach, not my #1 choice but right up there if he would be willing to leave Pitt

Yeah I like to consider the fact coach K and Roy are getting up in age and let's face it until they are gone it's always gonna be an uphill battle. If we go with someone like barnes we are setting up to be in the same boat. If we get someone younger who can battle with those guys now and build a reputation then when they both leave we may be able to get a leg up on both of them at that point.

He made $750k last year, probably more with the extension, so I'm gonna guess it's in the range of $2-$3m

But who knows, and who cares

Pennsylvania has some ridiculous alcohol laws. The only places that sell beer are beer distributors, a few Chinese restaurants, and tiny convenience stores that charge $9 for a six pack of PBR pints. As for GT, they are nerd city, and their M:F ratio and the quality (or lack thereof) of their women makes State look like the Playboy mansion.

I am from PA (Philly area), only places to get alcohol in my area are: Wine & Spirits, 2 beer distributors, and a pizza place. Also, PA has a retarded state school system. With financial aid and scholarships, it is cheaper for me to go to NC State than Pitt or Penn State ("State-assisted" schools). NC State was my 1st choice anyways, win-win.

It's funny at a point last year I was laughed at for saying Stevens because he wasn't good enough.

Now people at laughing at Stevens being a possibility since we aren't good enough.

I live in Philly right now. I love parts of it, then hate other aspects of it (mainly how much trash there is on the streets and sidewalks). I've enjoyed my time here, but I'll definitely not be doing my residency here.

Philly is a dirty-ass city haha. A lot of my friends go to Drexel and complain about it all the time. You should have seen it after the Phillies World Series parade haha. Whole city smelled like piss.

Also, it became the PA credibility watch thread when people suggested Dixon and Wright

Hate to derail the PA talk, but this guy Greg Swaim (radio show host) has been talking about the coaching job on twitter...
http://twitter.com/#!/GSwaim

He says:
Quote :
"
Tough to say, but understand there is interest on both sides. RT "@StephenRexrode: How good are the chances that Sean Miller to #NCSU?""

This is in response to an AZ fan questioning his source saying that Miller may be headed to the Pack
Quote :
"
A great source. Tune in this week! RT "@GrantSennerMD: @GSwaim What's your source for UA, or are you just plain wrong (and you are...)""

No idea how credible this guy is, but at least the rumors about Miller aren't just coming from State fans...

I would be ecstatic if we got either of Miller or Barnes. Getting either one would show everyone that we are a big time basketball school, and we would get instant credibility. ESPN's Gameday would probably show up next year (or at least by year two), which is a good thing for recruiting. PTI and ATH would talk about us, and you know what I wouldn't care if they shat on us and said "what was he thinking by going to NC State?" At least we'd be talked about. The excitement from getting either one would help sell out the RBC Center, and maybe our home court advantage would become more consistent.

Oh don't get me wrong, I still expect us to strike out and just cause other coaches to milk money from their current schools. We'll probably end up with Shaka Smart, and you know what I'm okay with that.

Stevens got a 10 year extension but the buyout is very low considering the contract (about $1mil). The AD at Butler said he wants a coach that wants to stay at Butler (like a Mark Few at Gonzaga).

I'd like to have Barnes, but other than his ties to N.C., can someone explain why he'd want to leave a job where he makes 2 million a year (are we legitimately going to pay 3?), where he's had 20 win seasons every year since his first year (19 then, and still won the conference title), never missed the NCAAs, and had players like T.J. Ford, Durant, and D.J. Augustin? Oh yeah, and he's repeatedly keeping the team in the hunt for the title.

I mean, I know there's more historical pedigree at N.C. State and in the ACC, but is that alone enough to draw him away from a successful, established, well paying job, where he is having loads of success?

Reading some of the posts on PP make me think some of our fans have an overinflated image of NC State basketball. It made me think of Dave Chappelle's impression of that Dylan kid from Making the Band.

"What are the 5 best college basketball programs of all time? Think about it. NC State...NC State...NC State, NC State, and NC State. Because we spit hot fire."

Hahahaha. That thread makes my face hurt. Jesus christ, do we never learn? And fuck PackInsider admins for even posting that kind of shit. We're going to end up with a guy like Shaka Smart and the fanbase is going to be pissed since all these high profile names were floating around and guy is going to be behind the eight ball from the start.

And I still maintain that Rick Barnes is not a good choice. Five years ago, yes. But not now when he'll be 57. People were railing against Jamie Dixon but honestly, what more has Barnes done? He has made ONE Final Four in 24 years and has never won the Big XII or any other conference.

The fact that Pitts Dixon was not smart/game-aware enough to PULL HIS PLAYERS FROM THE FREE THROW LINE last night ... makes me want him less.

Talk about a huge coaching mistake. Should have never been a foul with next to NO TIME LEFT and a tie ball game.

after seeing how well coached Butler has played in the tourney (that play he called out of the timeout where they scored before all the crazy foul shit started was awesome) and the way he celebrated with the players after the win, made him by far my top choice. I know he's probably the longest shot, but I could see him having the class and tenacity to go toe-to-toe with Roy and K

He does have a lot of graduating seniors, so if he wanted to leave, this year might be the highest his value will be for a while. But then again, he's in the sweet 16 after knocking off a #1 seed, so he probably isnt going anywhere

there's nothing wrong w/ the players being on the FT line, there was something wrong with not stressing them to only go STRAIGHT UP (not try to out-wrestle the opposing player) for a rebound in case they could put back a miss
