MKG is Irvine?

Irving? If so, no ... but I'm pretty sure him and MKG were on the same high school team.

I'm still hoping for McLemore -- if not him, Oladipo -- but this draft really does suck. Noel might be a great defender in the NBA, but he scares me because of his skinny-ass legs. He also has absolutely no offensive game except for put-back dunks. Paired with Biyombo, Charlotte would have the most pitiful front-court offense in basketball history.

And seriously, let's do this Hornets thing already.

1) Get the first pick
2) Find some dumb team that wants to trade up
3) Get two first round picks
4) Draft Richard Howell in the 2nd (His sweat alone is NBA worthy)

Great nba teams are built off defense and rebounding. A frontline of mkg, biyombo, Noel would be scary in 4 years. Noel steal and block rate is through the roof. Yeah wed be winning games 88-84 but thats still winning

I'd love to know what the hold up is on that front. Every poll taken on the subject comes back as 80-90% pro-Hornets. No one in their right mind has any attachment to the Bobcats name.

Greg Oden says hi. Can't miss prospect that has played 82 games, lol one NBA season, since being drafted in 2007. So sorry for not anointing some dude that averaged 10 ppg in one injury-shortened college season the chosen one.

This is awesome news, no doubt. I grew up going to Hornets games and still have a Larry Johnson jersey in the closet. I just hope the team starts winning consistently, or all the nostalgia and warm fuzzies will go away real quick.

Even though the NBA owns the Hornets moniker, the incoming commish Adam Silver said a complete rebrand would take a minimum of 18 months. So it looks like we're stuck with the Bobcats for one more season -- which might actually be a good thing. Let young guys like Kemba, MKG, Biyombo, and whoever the pick is this year (McLemore?) improve and gel for one more year, then hopefully unleash a competitive team the next season along with the new name.

The whole '18 months' part, I dont understand. Bennet bought and moved the Sonics halfway across the country in less than a year, but changing just the name and appearance of a team takes a year and a half? The whole 'adidas needs time to make stuff' thing seems ridiculous.

Yeah, I agree it seems ridiculous. I guess you've got to take into account branding/coloring the arena, the technology/websites/social media, the advertising/pr, as well as the actual merchandise. Still, 18 months seems a bit much.

Whatever though. I can deal with one more year of the Bobcats if that means Hugo is coming back.

^^ Moving a team and coming up with all new branding is easier than the legal wrangling involved in clearing everything for a new organization to use existing intellectual property and then continue to build on what examples exist.

^ Merch is no problem. The NBA already sells more Charlotte Hornets merch than Bobcats merch as it is.
