Pat Forde doesn't seem to have the same "we're in no matter what" idea that alot of folks around here and packpride have:
Quote : | "17. North Carolina State. Game: Syracuse at home, Saturday. Victory would get the bubble-addicted Wolfpack above .500 in ACC play for the year, and would help mitigate the damage done by losing to Boston College last week and Wake Forest last month. Lose this one, and the ACC tournament becomes an even more desperate undertaking." |
I feel like he is wrong here. How would a victory against Syracuse mitigate damage done by losing to Wake? Haven't we done that by beating louisville and UNC on the road? lol3/6/2015 5:57:13 PM |

we need 1 more win. who is saying we're in no matter what? if we go 0-2 there's a chance we still make it but it's by no means a lock 3/6/2015 7:07:34 PM |

looking at that 8-9 seed, so hopefully we can go on a run in the ACC tourney and work up to a 7 (or, you know, win the whole damn thing ) 3/7/2015 2:32:43 PM |

There's 8 legit teams in college basketball this season so I'm not sure playing a 1 or 2 really matters. We can't get Duke or Virginia, and I'd want to avoid Zona and Wiscy. The rest? Would be ok with any of them 3/7/2015 3:47:05 PM |

Got upper level tix for Wed night in the NC State section (237-240, 101, 131, 132 for anyone that cares). Probably move down though. 3/7/2015 4:43:06 PM |

A couple of weeks ago I would have wanted to avoid Pitt, but they haven't been great the past few games.
If Duke loses, could ND leapfrog them? They split this season, and I don't know what the other tiebreakers are.
Nevermind, found the answer.

Quote : | "It's time to lock up NC State. The Wolfpack could have gotten the job done earlier if they hadn't lost at Boston College on Feb. 28. Oh, well. That loss at BC is the lone blemish of NC State's final six games, when it went 5-1, knocked off Louisville and North Carolina on the road, and closed the regular-season with back-to-back wins over Clemson and Syracuse. (Saturday's win over the Orange even featured a "YMCA" chant at Jim Boeheim, which, come on: That's pretty funny.) Add the Jan. 11 home win over Duke, and no ostensible bubble team can come close to competing with the Pack for impressive victories. Throw in the top-30 nonconference schedule and top-10 overall schedule mark, and whatever flaws this 19-12 regular season might have undoubtedly will be outweighed by its strengths on Selection Sunday, regardless of what happens in the interim." |

Everything I see puts us around a 9 seed. Seems like we'd have to beat Pitt and Duke to move into the 6/7 range.
I'd never pull for us to lose, but it'd almost be better if we lost to Pitt and dropped to a 10/11 seed with regards to how far we could advance in the NCAA tourney. I think the teams we'd face as a 7 seed wouldn't be any better than those with an 8 seed. I generally think of 7-11 seeded teams to all be about the same. and if we're in The 8/9 game theres a 50/50 shot we play Kentucky in the following round.
Maybe I'm overthinking it.

I think he's referring to the #1 seeds the selection committee would be hesitant to match us with, like UVA, since they are ACC. Or Duke, if they end up getting a #1 nod.

Not if you assume Duke and UVA are 1 seeds. I think UVA is still a #1 unless they lose their first ACCT game

^I think that's accurate.
But, I think we're actually going to have a harder time with our line up in the ACCT than the first couple of rounds of the NCAA.
Pitt, Duke, Notre Dame, UVA -- that's rough right there. I'd rather play Dayton/Kentucky or Nova. 3/8/2015 11:56:46 AM |

Paige had a bad year, in comparison with his talent and what he did last year. I don't think he deserved a spot on first team, but I am surprised the color of his jersey didn't get him on 2nd team. 3/8/2015 3:53:34 PM |

As in, you think he deserved 1st or 2nd? I disagree. He was not as good as last year. Had foot problems throughout the season that hampered him. But he just wasn't that good this year. 3rd is about right.3/8/2015 4:11:24 PM |

Beejay with All-Defensive Team and Sixth Man of the Year awards. Surprised about the second.
and yeah, who would you guys argue gets bumped off of 1st/2nd teams for Paige? he has not been nearly as good as last year. If he wasn't at Carolina and didn't get voted preseason POY, he might not have even been on the 3rd team.

^^i think there's only a very slim chance we'd play cincy. the committee rarely does 1st round rematches, right?
plus, while lunardi may be fairly reliable in terms of projecting seeds - isn't it essentially complete guess work when it comes to picking actual matchups? 3/9/2015 9:47:55 AM |
